തിരുവനന്തപുരം: വി.ഡി. സതീശനെ മുഖ്യമന്ത്രിയായി തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്ത കോണ്‍ഗ്രസ് ഹൈക്കമാന്‍ഡ് തീരുമാനത്തെ മുന്‍ മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി എ കെ ആന്റണി സ്വാഗതം ചെയ്തു. സതീശന്റെ വരവ് കേരളത്തിലെ കോണ്‍ഗ്രസിന് പുതിയ ഊര്‍ജ്ജം നല്‍കുമെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം പ്രത്യാശ പ്രകടിപ്പിച്ചു.

മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി സ്ഥാനത്തേയ്ക്കു പേരു വന്നതിനു പിന്നാലെ സതീശന്‍ മുതിര്‍ന്ന കോണ്‍ഗ്രസ് നേതാവ് എ.കെ. ആന്റണിയേയും മുന്‍ കെ പി സി സി പ്രസിഡന്റ് വി എം സുധീരനെയും വീട്ടിലെത്തി സന്ദര്‍ശിച്ചു.

2001-ല്‍ താന്‍ മുഖ്യമന്ത്രിയായ കാലത്തെ അനുഭവങ്ങള്‍ പങ്കുവച്ചുകൊണ്ട് സതീശന് ആന്റണി മുന്നറിയിപ്പ് നല്‍കുകയും ചെയ്തു. അന്ന് തുടക്കത്തില്‍ വലിയ മാധ്യമ പിന്തുണ ലഭിച്ചിരുന്നെങ്കിലും, സാമ്പത്തിക പ്രതിസന്ധി മൂലം കടുത്ത തീരുമാനങ്ങള്‍ എടുത്തപ്പോള്‍ മാധ്യമങ്ങളും മറ്റുള്ളവരും തന്നെ വേട്ടയാടിയ കാര്യം അദ്ദേഹം ഓര്‍മ്മിപ്പിച്ചു. 2001-ല്‍ തന്നെ കല്ലെറിഞ്ഞവര്‍ സതീശനെയും വെറുതെ വിടില്ലെന്നും, കുറച്ചു കയ്പുനീര്‍ കുടിക്കേണ്ടി വരുമെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു.

നിലവില്‍ കേരളം നേരിടുന്ന ഗുരുതരമായ സാമ്പത്തിക പ്രതിസന്ധിയെക്കുറിച്ച് ആന്റണി സൂചിപ്പിച്ചു. 2001-ലേതിനേക്കാള്‍ പത്തിരട്ടി മോശമായ അവസ്ഥയിലൂടെയാണ് സംസ്ഥാനം കടന്നുപോകുന്നത്. ഈ സാഹചര്യത്തില്‍ കാര്യങ്ങള്‍ മുന്നോട്ടു കൊണ്ടുപോവുക എന്നത് വെല്ലുവിളിയാണെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം ഓര്‍മ്മിപ്പിച്ചു.

തുടക്കത്തില്‍ ലഭിക്കുന്ന അമിതമായ മാധ്യമ പിന്തുണയില്‍ മതിമറക്കരുത് എന്നും, വരും ദിവസങ്ങളില്‍ കടുത്ത വിമര്‍ശനങ്ങളെ നേരിടാന്‍ തയ്യാറായിരിക്കണം എന്നും അദ്ദേഹം സതീശനെ ഉപദേശിച്ചു.

വെല്ലുവിളികള്‍ ഉണ്ടെങ്കിലും സതീശന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തില്‍ കോണ്‍ഗ്രസിന് വരാനിരിക്കുന്നത് സുവര്‍ണ്ണകാലമാകട്ടെ എന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം ആശംസിച്ചു.

Sharing his experiences from 2001 when he became the Chief Minister, Antony issued a warning to Satheesan. He recalled that while he received immense media support initially, the media and others haunted him when he had to take tough decisions due to the financial crisis. He remarked that those who pelted him with stones in 2001 would not spare Satheesan either, and that he would have to drink some "bitter nectar" (face hardships).

Antony pointed out the severe financial crisis currently facing Kerala. He reminded that the state is passing through a situation ten times worse than that of 2001. He emphasized that moving forward under these circumstances is a significant challenge.

He advised Satheesan not to be overwhelmed by the excessive media support received in the beginning and to be prepared to face harsh criticisms in the coming days.

Despite the challenges, Antony wished that the coming period under Satheesan's leadership would be a golden era for the Congress.
