ചാത്തന്നൂര് : കേരളത്തില് വീണ്ടും താമര വിരിയിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് ചാത്തന്നൂര് നിയമസഭാ മണ്ഡലത്തില് ബി.ജെ.പി സ്ഥാനാര്ത്ഥി ബി.ബി. ഗോപകുമാര് 4002 വോട്ടിനു വിജയിച്ചു.
എല്.ഡി.എഫിന്റെ (സി.പി.ഐ) ശക്തമായ കോട്ടയായിരുന്ന ചാത്തന്നൂരില് ബി.ജെ.പി നേടുന്ന ഈ വിജയം ചരിത്രപരമായ ഒന്നാണ്.
വാശിയേറിയ പോരാട്ടത്തിനൊടുവില് 4002 വോട്ടുകളുടെ ഭൂരിപക്ഷത്തിനാണ് ബി.ബി. ഗോപകുമാര് വിജയിച്ചത്. വോട്ടെണ്ണലിന്റെ വിവിധ ഘട്ടങ്ങളില് സ്ഥാനാര്ത്ഥികള് മാറിമാറി ലീഡ് ചെയ്തിരുന്നെങ്കിലും അവസാന റൗണ്ടുകളില് ഗോപകുമാര് വിജയം ഉറപ്പിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.
ബി.ബി. ഗോപകുമാറും എല്.ഡി.എഫ് സ്ഥാനാര്ത്ഥി ആര്. രാജേന്ദ്രനും യു.ഡി.എഫിന്റെ സൂരജ് രവിയും തമ്മില് ഇഞ്ചോടിഞ്ച് പോരാട്ടമാണ് നടന്നത്. കേരളം ഉറ്റുനോക്കിയ ഒരു മണ്ഡലമായിരുന്നു ഇത്.
2016-ലും 2021-ലും ഇതേ മണ്ഡലത്തില് മത്സരിച്ച് പരാജയപ്പെട്ടെങ്കിലും, മണ്ഡലത്തില് സജീവമായി നിലകൊണ്ടത് ഗോപകുമാറിന് ഈ തവണ തുണയായി. കഴിഞ്ഞ തവണ ജി.എസ്. ജയലാലിനോടായിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹം പരാജയപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നത്.
കൊല്ലം എസ്.എന് കോളേജില് നിന്ന് എം.എയും ശ്രീ ശങ്കരാചാര്യ സംസ്കൃത സര്വ്വകലാശാലയില് നിന്ന് ബി.എഡും നേടിയിട്ടുണ്ട് ഗോപകുമാര്. കൊല്ലം ജില്ലയിലെ സജീവ രാഷ്ട്രീയ പ്രവര്ത്തകനായ അദ്ദേഹം വികസന കാര്യങ്ങളിലും പ്രാദേശിക പ്രശ്നങ്ങളിലും ഊന്നല് നല്കിയാണ് ഇത്തവണ വോട്ട് തേടിയത്.

The constituency witnessed a neck-and-neck triangular contest between B.B. Gopakumar, LDF candidate R. Rajendran, and UDF candidate Sooraj Ravi. This was one of the most closely watched electoral battles in Kerala.
Having contested and lost in the same constituency in 2016 and 2021, Gopakumar’s persistent presence and active involvement in the region proved beneficial this time. In the previous election, he had lost to CPI's G.S. Jayalal.
