തിരുവനന്തപുരം: റൈഡ് തകര്‍ന്നുണ്ടായ അപകടത്തെ തുടര്‍ന്ന് വെമ്പായത്തുള്ള വാട്ടര്‍ തീം പാര്‍ക്കായ ഹാപ്പിലാന്‍ഡിന്റെ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനം താല്‍ക്കാലികമായി നിര്‍ത്തിവെക്കാന്‍ അധികൃതര്‍ നിര്‍ദേശം നല്‍കി. അപകടത്തില്‍ കുട്ടികളടക്കം നിരവധി പേര്‍ക്ക് പരിക്കേല്‍ക്കുകയും ഗുരുതരമായ സുരക്ഷാവീഴ്ചകള്‍ കണ്ടെത്തുകയും ചെയ്ത സാഹചര്യത്തിലാണ് പാര്‍ക്ക് അടച്ചുപൂട്ടാന്‍ തീരുമാനമായത്.

റൈഡുകളുടെ ഫിറ്റ്നസ് പരിശോധനയും സുരക്ഷാ ഓഡിറ്റിങും കൃത്യമായി നടന്നിട്ടുണ്ടോ എന്ന് പോലീസ് പരിശോധിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. അപകടം സംബന്ധിച്ച് ജില്ലാ കലക്ടര്‍ക്ക് പോലീസ് അടിയന്തര റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട് നല്‍കും.

മാനദണ്ഡങ്ങള്‍ പാലിക്കാതെയാണ് പാര്‍ക്ക് പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നതെങ്കില്‍ ലൈസന്‍സ് റദ്ദാക്കാന്‍ തദ്ദേശസ്ഥാപനങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് നിര്‍ദേശം നല്‍കുമെന്ന് ടൂറിസം വകുപ്പ് മന്ത്രി പി.സി. വിഷ്ണുനാഥ് വ്യക്തമാക്കി.

സുരക്ഷാ പരിശോധനകള്‍ പൂര്‍ത്തിയാക്കി ഫിറ്റ്നസ് സര്‍ട്ടിഫിക്കറ്റ് പുതുക്കുന്നതുവരെ പാര്‍ക്കിന്റെ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനം പൂര്‍ണ്ണമായും നിര്‍ത്തിവെക്കാനാണ് നിലവിലെ നിര്‍ദേശം.

സ്‌കൂള്‍ അവധിക്കാലമായതിനാല്‍ വലിയ ജനത്തിരക്കുള്ള സമയത്താണ് പാര്‍ക്കിലെ പ്രധാന റൈഡുകളിലൊന്നായ ജയന്റ് വീല്‍ തകര്‍ന്നു വീണത്.

ഉയര്‍ന്നു പൊങ്ങിയ സമയത്ത് റൈഡിന്റെ വെല്‍ഡിങ് ജോയിന്റുകളും ഇരുമ്പ് ദണ്ഡുകളും പൊട്ടിയതാണ് റൈഡ് തകരാന്‍ ഇടയാക്കിയത്. അപകടസമയത്ത് 26 പേര്‍ ഈ റൈഡില്‍ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. റൈഡിന്റെ ഒരു ഭാഗം പൂര്‍ണ്ണമായി തെന്നിമാറി നിലത്തുവീഴുകയായിരുന്നു.

അപകടത്തില്‍ തമിഴ്നാട്ടിലെ നാഗര്‍കോവിലില്‍ നിന്നെത്തിയ വിനോദസഞ്ചാരികളായ ഒരു കുടുംബത്തിലെ 5 പേര്‍ ഉള്‍പ്പെടെ 6 പേര്‍ക്ക് പരിക്കേറ്റു. പരിക്കേറ്റവരില്‍ മനോരതി (54), സീമനി (49), മാലിനി (49), ശ്യാം ഡാനിയല്‍ (14), റോസ് (16) എന്നിവര്‍ ഉള്‍പ്പെടുന്നു.

ഒരു സ്ത്രീയുടെ കാല്‍ ഒടിഞ്ഞു. ഇവരെ തിരുവനന്തപുരം മെഡിക്കല്‍ കോളേജ് ആശുപത്രിയിലും മറ്റുള്ളവരെ വെഞ്ഞാറമൂട്ടിലെ സ്വകാര്യ ആശുപത്രിയിലും പ്രവേശിപ്പിച്ചു.

അപകടം നടന്ന് മണിക്കൂറുകള്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടും കൃത്യമായ രക്ഷാപ്രവര്‍ത്തനം നടത്താന്‍ പാര്‍ക്ക് അധികൃതര്‍ തയ്യാറായില്ല എന്ന് നാട്ടുകാരും ദൃക്സാക്ഷികളും ആരോപിച്ചു.

പാര്‍ക്കില്‍ ആവശ്യത്തിന് സുരക്ഷാ ക്രമീകരണങ്ങളോ പ്രാഥമിക ചികിത്സാ സംവിധാനങ്ങളോ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല. പരിക്കേറ്റവരെ ആശുപത്രിയിലേക്ക് മാറ്റാന്‍ കൃത്യസമയത്ത് ആംബുലന്‍സ് പോലും ലഭ്യമാക്കിയില്ലെന്നും, പരിക്കേറ്റ ചിലരെ മാലിന്യവണ്ടിയിലാണ് മാറ്റിയതെന്നും വലിയ രീതിയിലുള്ള ആക്ഷേപങ്ങള്‍ ഉയര്‍ന്നു.

തകരാറിലുള്ള റൈഡുകള്‍ക്ക് മുന്നില്‍ യാതൊരുവിധ മുന്നറിയിപ്പ് ബോര്‍ഡുകളും സ്ഥാപിക്കാറില്ലെന്നും കൃത്യമായ അറ്റകുറ്റപ്പണികള്‍ നടത്താതെയാണ് പാര്‍ക്ക് പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നതെന്നും ആക്ഷേപമുണ്ട്.

വെഞ്ഞാറമൂട് പോലീസ് സംഭവത്തില്‍ കേസെടുത്ത് അന്വേഷണം ആരംഭിച്ചു. 

Summary: Following an accident caused by a ride collapse, authorities have directed to temporarily suspend the operations of Happyland, a water theme park located in Vembayam. The decision to shut down the park was taken after several people, including children, sustained injuries and serious safety lapses were uncovered.

The police are currently investigating whether the fitness tests and safety auditing of the rides were carried out properly. The police will submit an urgent report regarding the accident to the District Collector.

Tourism Minister P.C. Vishnunath stated that if the park is found to be operating without complying with the regulations, instructions will be given to the local self-government bodies to revoke its license. The current directive is to completely halt the operations of the park until safety inspections are completed and the fitness certificate is renewed.

The accident occurred during a high-rush hour due to the school vacation, when the 'Giant Wheel'—one of the main rides in the park—collapsed. The ride malfunctioned when its welding joints and iron rods snapped while it was moving upward. There were around 26 people on the ride at the time of the accident. A section of the ride completely detached and crashed to the ground.

Six people were injured in the accident, including five members of a family of tourists who had arrived from Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu. The injured individuals include Manorathi (54), Seemani (49), Malini (49), Shyam Daniel (14), and Rose (16). One woman suffered a leg fracture. She was admitted to the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital, while the others were admitted to a private hospital in Venjaramoodu.

Locals and eyewitnesses alleged that even hours after the accident, the park authorities failed to carry out proper rescue operations. Serious allegations have been raised that the park lacked adequate safety measures or first-aid facilities, an ambulance was not provided in time to shift the injured to the hospital, and some of the injured were instead transported in a waste collection vehicle.

There are also allegations that the park operates without proper maintenance and that no warning boards are placed in front of faulty rides. The Venjaramoodu police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident.
