BJP to Power for a Third Term in Assam

ദിസ്പുര്‍ : അസമില്‍ ബിജെപി നേതൃത്വത്തിലുള്ള എന്‍ഡിഎ മൂന്നാം തവണയും അധികാരം നിലനിര്‍ത്തുമെന്നു വ്യക്തമായിരിക്കുന്നു. ഐഡന്റിറ്റി, ക്ഷേമം, പ്രാദേശിക അഭിലാഷങ്ങള്‍ തുടങ്ങിയ വിഷയങ്ങള്‍ ഉയര്‍ത്തിക്കാട്ടിയ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പില്‍ കോണ്‍ഗ്രസിന് അടിപതറുകയായിരുന്നു.

വോട്ടെണ്ണല്‍ പകുതി പിന്നിടുമ്പോള്‍ 98 സീറ്റില്‍ ബിജെപി നയിക്കുന്ന മുന്നണി മുന്നിലാണ്. കോണ്‍ഗ്രസ് നയിക്കുന്ന മുന്നണി 24 സീറ്റില്‍ മാത്രമാണ് മുന്നില്‍. മറ്റുള്ളവര്‍ നാലു സീറ്റില്‍ മുന്നിലാണ്. ആകെ 126 നിയമസഭാ മണ്ഡലങ്ങളിലേക്കാണ് പോളിംഗ് നടന്നത്.

35 ജില്ലകളിലായുള്ള 40 വോട്ടെണ്ണല്‍ കേന്ദ്രങ്ങളിലേക്ക് 722 സ്ഥാനാര്‍ത്ഥികളും അവരുടെ നിരീക്ഷകരും അനുയായികളും ഉറ്റുനോക്കുകയാണ്.

മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി തന്റെ പരമ്പരാഗത കോട്ടയായ ജലൂക്ബാരിയില്‍ നിന്ന് ഹാട്രിക് വിജയം നേടുമെന്നു ഏതാണ്ട് ഉറപ്പായിരിക്കുന്നു. 

ലോക്സഭാ എംപിയായി സേവനമനുഷ്ഠിച്ച സംസ്ഥാന കോണ്‍ഗ്രസ് അധ്യക്ഷന്‍ ഗൗരവ് ഗോഗോയ് ജോര്‍ഹട്ടില്‍ നിന്ന് ജയിച്ച് നിയമസഭയിലേക്കുള്ള തന്റെ കന്നി പ്രവേശനം ലക്ഷ്യമിടുന്നു.

ഏപ്രില്‍ 9-ന് നടന്ന തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പില്‍ അസം ചരിത്രപരമായ 85.91 ശതമാനം പോളിംഗ് രേഖപ്പെടുത്തി. സ്ത്രീകളുടെ പങ്കാളിത്തം എക്കാലത്തെയും ഉയര്‍ന്ന നിരക്കായ 86.5 ശതമാനത്തില്‍ എത്തി.

Summary: It has become clear that the BJP-led NDA will retain power for a third consecutive term in Assam. In an election marked by issues such as identity, welfare, and regional aspirations, the Congress faced a significant setback.

As vote counting passes the halfway mark, the BJP-led alliance is leading in 98 seats. The Congress-led front is ahead in only 24 seats, while others lead in four. Polling was held for a total of 126 Assembly constituencies.

Across 35 districts, 722 candidates, along with their observers and supporters, are keeping a close watch on the 40 counting centers.

It is now almost certain that the Chief Minister will secure a hat-trick victory from his traditional stronghold of Jalukbari.

Meanwhile, State Congress President Gaurav Gogoi, who previously served as a Lok Sabha MP, is aiming for his maiden entry into the State Assembly with a win from Jorhat.

In the elections held on April 9, Assam recorded a historic voter turnout of 85.91%. Notably, female voter participation reached an all-time high of 86.5%.
