ന്യൂഡല്‍ഹി: പരീക്ഷാ ചോര്‍ച്ചയ്‌ക്കെതിരെയുള്ള പ്രതിഷേധങ്ങളില്‍ പിടിച്ചുനില്‍ക്കാനാവാതെ ധര്‍മ്മേന്ദ്ര പ്രധാന്‍ രാജി വച്ചതിനെ തുടര്‍ന്ന്, കേന്ദ്രമന്ത്രി പ്രഹ് ളാദ് ജോഷിക്ക് വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ മന്ത്രാലയത്തിന്റെ അധിക ചുമതല നല്‍കി.

ധര്‍മ്മേന്ദ്ര പ്രധാന്റെ രാജി അംഗീകരിച്ച ശേഷം, രാഷ്ട്രപതിയുടെ ഓഫീസ് ഇന്ന് വൈകുന്നേരം പുറത്തിറക്കിയ വാര്‍ത്താക്കുറിപ്പിലാണ് പ്രഹ് ളാദ് ജോഷിയുടെ നിയമനം സ്ഥിരീകരിച്ചത്. നിലവില്‍ കേന്ദ്ര ഭക്ഷ്യ-പൊതുവിതരണ കാര്യ മന്ത്രിയാണ് ജോഷി. വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ മന്ത്രാലയത്തിന്റെ അധിക ചുമതലയാണ് ജോഷിക്കു നല്കിയിരിക്കുന്നത്.

പരീക്ഷാ ചോദ്യപേപ്പര്‍ ചോര്‍ച്ചയെച്ചൊല്ലി ഡല്‍ഹിയിലെ ജന്തര്‍ മന്ദിറില്‍ സമരം 35-ാം ദിവസത്തിലേക്ക് കടന്നപ്പോഴാണ് 57-കാരനായ ധര്‍മ്മേന്ദ്ര പ്രധാന്‍ രാജി സമര്‍പ്പിച്ചത്. സ്ഥിതിഗതികള്‍ രാജ്യവിരുദ്ധ ശക്തികള്‍ ചൂഷണം ചെയ്യുന്നത് തടയാനാണ് താന്‍ പദവി ഒഴിയാന്‍ തീരുമാനിച്ചതെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം രാജിയില്‍ വ്യക്തമാക്കി.

'നാല് പതിറ്റാണ്ടിലേറെയായി വിദ്യാര്‍ത്ഥികളുടെയും അധ്യാപകരുടെയും വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ പരിഷ്‌കരണത്തിന്റെയും നന്മയ്ക്കായി ഞാന്‍ എന്നെത്തന്നെ സമര്‍പ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുകയാണ്. ശക്തവും എല്ലാവരെയും ഉള്‍ക്കൊള്ളുന്നതുമായ ഒരു വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ സമ്പ്രദായമാണ് ശക്തമായ ഒരു രാജ്യത്തിന്റെ അടിത്തറയെന്ന് ഞാന്‍ എപ്പോഴും വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു,' അദ്ദേഹം തന്റെ രാജിക്കത്തില്‍ പറഞ്ഞു.

അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ രാജിക്ക് മണിക്കൂറുകള്‍ക്ക് ശേഷം, സി.ജെ.പി വക്താക്കളായ സൗരവ് ദാസും അശുതോഷ് റാങ്കയും കേന്ദ്രമന്ത്രിമാരായ ജെ.പി. നദ്ദ, ജിതേന്ദ്ര സിംഗ് എന്നിവര്‍ക്കൊപ്പം നടത്തിയ സംയുക്ത വാര്‍ത്താസമ്മേളനത്തില്‍, തങ്ങളുടെ ആവശ്യങ്ങള്‍ പരിഹരിക്കാമെന്ന് കേന്ദ്രം ഉറപ്പുനല്‍കിയതിനെ തുടര്‍ന്ന് 'നല്ല വിശ്വാസത്തില്‍' സമരം അവസാനിപ്പിച്ചതായി പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചു.

വിദ്യാര്‍ത്ഥി പ്രതിഷേധത്തിന് നേതൃത്വം നല്‍കാന്‍ അടുത്തിടെ ഇന്ത്യയില്‍ തിരിച്ചെത്തിയ ബോസ്റ്റണ്‍ സര്‍വ്വകലാശാല ബിരുദധാരിയായ അഭിജീത് ദിപ്‌കെ രൂപീകരിച്ച ഗ്രൂപ്പിന്റെ പ്രധാന ആവശ്യം ധര്‍മ്മേന്ദ്ര പ്രധാന്റെ രാജിയായിരുന്നു.

ധര്‍മ്മേന്ദ്ര പ്രധാന്‍ രാജിവയ്ക്കുന്നതിനും സി.ജെ.പി സമരം പിന്‍വലിക്കുന്നതിനും തലേദിവസം, വിദ്യാര്‍ത്ഥികളുടെ താല്‍പ്പര്യങ്ങള്‍ സംരക്ഷിക്കാന്‍ സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ പ്രതിജ്ഞാബദ്ധമാണെന്നും സി.ജെ.പിയുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തിലുള്ള പ്രതിഷേധത്തെ മുതലെടുക്കാന്‍ ചില 'സാമൂഹിക വിരുദ്ധ ശക്തികള്‍' ശ്രമിക്കുന്നുണ്ടെന്നും പ്രഹ് ളാദ് ജോഷി പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നു.

വിദ്യാര്‍ത്ഥികളോട് കേന്ദ്രസര്‍ക്കാര്‍ ആത്മാര്‍ത്ഥമായ ആശങ്കയും സഹാനുഭൂതിയും കാണിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടെന്നും വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ സമ്പ്രദായം ശക്തിപ്പെടുത്തുന്നതിനും യുവാക്കളുടെ ഭാവി സുരക്ഷിതമാക്കുന്നതിനും നിരന്തരം പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടെന്നും വെള്ളിയാഴ്ച ഡല്‍ഹിയില്‍ മാധ്യമപ്രവര്‍ത്തകരോട് സംസാരിക്കവെ ജോഷി പറഞ്ഞു.

'മോദി സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ എപ്പോഴും വിദ്യാര്‍ത്ഥികള്‍ക്കും യുവാക്കള്‍ക്കും ഒപ്പമാണ് നിലകൊണ്ടിട്ടുള്ളത്. അവരുടെ ഭാവിയെ ബാധിക്കുന്ന എന്തെങ്കിലും ക്രമക്കേടുകളോ അനീതികളോ ഉണ്ടായാല്‍ കര്‍ശന നടപടിയെടുക്കാന്‍ സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ പ്രതിജ്ഞാബദ്ധമാണ്,' പ്രഹ്ലാദ് ജോഷി പറഞ്ഞു.

'സമാധാനപരമായി പ്രതിഷേധിക്കാന്‍ വിദ്യാര്‍ത്ഥികള്‍ക്ക് അവകാശമുണ്ട്. എന്നാല്‍ ചില സാമൂഹിക വിരുദ്ധ ഘടകങ്ങള്‍ ഈ പ്രസ്ഥാനത്തെ കൈക്കലാക്കാന്‍ ശ്രമിക്കുന്നതായി റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ടുകളുണ്ട്. വിദ്യാര്‍ത്ഥികള്‍ ജാഗ്രത പാലിക്കണം, അവരുടെ ന്യായമായ ആശങ്കകള്‍ ദുരുപയോഗം ചെയ്യപ്പെടുന്നില്ലെന്ന് ഉറപ്പാക്കണം,' പ്രധാന്‍ രാജിവയ്ക്കുന്നതിന് തലേദിവസം അദ്ദേഹം വ്യക്തമാക്കിയിരുന്നു.

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi has been given the additional charge of the Ministry of Education following the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan, who stepped down amid intense protests over exam paper leaks.

The President's office confirmed Joshi's appointment in an official communique released this evening after accepting Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation. Joshi is currently serving as the Union Minister of Food and Public Distribution and has now been entrusted with the additional charge of the Education Ministry.

The 57-year-old Dharmendra Pradhan submitted his resignation as the agitation over exam paper leaks at Delhi's Jantar Mantar entered its 35th day. In his resignation letter, he stated that he decided to step down to prevent anti-national forces from exploiting the situation.

"For over four decades, I have dedicated myself to the cause of students, teachers, and educational reform. I have always believed that a robust and inclusive education system forms the cornerstone of a strong nation," he noted in his letter.

Hours after his resignation, CJP spokespersons Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, alongside Union Ministers J.P. Nadda and Jitendra Singh, announced at a joint press conference that they were calling off the protest "in good faith" after receiving assurances from the Centre that their demands would be addressed.

The resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan was the primary demand of the student group formed by Abhijeet Dipke, a Boston University graduate who recently returned to India to lead the movement.

A day prior to Pradhan's resignation and the subsequent withdrawal of the CJP protest, Pralhad Joshi had remarked that the government remains committed to protecting student interests and alleged that certain "anti-social elements" were trying to exploit the CJP-led demonstrations.

Speaking to reporters in Delhi on Friday, Joshi stated that the Union Government has shown genuine concern and empathy toward students, working continuously to strengthen the education system and secure the future of the youth.

"The Modi government has always stood with students and the youth. It remains steadfast in taking strict action against any irregularities or injustices that affect their future," Joshi said.

"Students have every right to protest peacefully. However, there are reports that anti-social elements are attempting to hijack this movement. Students must remain vigilant and ensure their legitimate concerns are not misused," he had cautioned a day before Pradhan stepped down.
