New History in Tamil Nadu: Vijay Sworn In as Chief Minister Along with 9 Ministers

ചെന്നൈ: തമിഴ്നാട് രാഷ്ട്രീയത്തില്‍ ചരിത്രം കുറിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് നടനും തമിഴക വെട്രി കഴകം (ടിവികെ) നേതാവുമായ വിജയ് സംസ്ഥാന മുഖ്യമന്ത്രിയായി സത്യപ്രതിജ്ഞ ചെയ്തു. ആറ് പതിറ്റാണ്ടിലേറെ നീണ്ടുനിന്ന ഡി.എം.കെ - എ.ഐ.എ.ഡി.എം.കെ ഭരണങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് അന്ത്യം കുറിച്ചുകൊണ്ടാണ് 51-കാരനായ വിജയ് ഭരണസാരഥ്യമേറ്റെടുക്കുന്നത്. ഒപ്പം 9 മന്ത്രിമാരും സത്യപ്രതിജ്ഞ ചെയ്തു.

ചെന്നൈ നെഹ്റു സ്റ്റേഡിയത്തില്‍ നടന്ന ചടങ്ങില്‍ ഗവര്‍ണര്‍ രാജേന്ദ്ര വിശ്വനാഥ് അര്‍ലേക്കര്‍ വിജയ്ക്ക് സത്യവാചകം ചൊല്ലിക്കൊടുത്തു. വിജയ് ആരാധകരുടെ അത്യാവേശത്തിനു നടുവിലായിരുന്നു സത്യപ്രതിജ്ഞ. നടി തൃഷയും ചടങ്ങില്‍ സന്നിഹിതയായിരുന്നു.

234 അംഗ നിയമസഭയില്‍ ഭൂരിപക്ഷത്തിന് വേണ്ടത് 118 സീറ്റുകളാണ്. തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പില്‍ ടി.വി.കെ 108 സീറ്റുകള്‍ നേടി ഏറ്റവും വലിയ ഒറ്റകക്ഷിയായി. സഖ്യകക്ഷികളുടെ പിന്തുണയോടെ സഭയില്‍ നിലവില്‍ 120 പേരുടെ പിന്തുണ വിജയ്ക്കുണ്ട്.

നേരത്തെ ഡി.എം.കെ സഖ്യത്തിലായിരുന്ന പാര്‍ട്ടികളാണ് വിജയ്ക്ക് പിന്തുണ പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചത്.

മുസ്ലിം ലീഗ്: 2 എം.എല്‍.എമാര്‍

തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് ഫലം വന്നതിന് പിന്നാലെ അഞ്ച് ദിവസം നീണ്ടുനിന്ന അനിശ്ചിതത്വങ്ങള്‍ക്കൊടുവിലാണ് സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ രൂപീകരണം സാധ്യമായത്. ഭൂരിപക്ഷം തെളിയിക്കുന്ന കത്തുകള്‍ കൈമാറാന്‍ നാല് തവണയാണ് വിജയ് ഗവര്‍ണറെ കണ്ടത്. ഒടുവില്‍ ശനിയാഴ്ച വൈകുന്നേരത്തോടെ ഗവര്‍ണര്‍ സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ രൂപീകരിക്കാന്‍ വിജയിയെ ക്ഷണിച്ചു.

തുടക്കത്തില്‍ പിന്തുണ നല്‍കാന്‍ മടിച്ചുനിന്ന വി.സി.കെ ഉള്‍പ്പെടെയുള്ള പാര്‍ട്ടികള്‍ നീണ്ട ചര്‍ച്ചകള്‍ക്കൊടുവില്‍ നിരുപാധിക പിന്തുണ പ്രഖ്യാപിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. ഇതോടെയാണ് വിജയിക്ക് മാന്ത്രികസംഖ്യയായ 118 മറികടക്കാനായത്.

വിജയുടെ അച്ഛനമ്മമാര്‍ സത്യപ്രതിജ്ഞാ ചടങ്ങില്‍

പെരമ്പൂര്‍, തിരുച്ചി ഈസ്റ്റ് എന്നീ രണ്ട് മണ്ഡലങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്ന് വിജയിച്ച വിജയ്, നിയമപ്രകാരം ഒരു മണ്ഡലത്തിലെ അംഗത്വം ഉടന്‍ രാജിവയ്ക്കും.

1967-ല്‍ സി.എന്‍. അണ്ണാദുരൈയുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തില്‍ ഡി.എം.കെ അധികാരത്തില്‍ വന്നതിന് ശേഷം ആദ്യമായാണ് ഒരു ദ്രാവിഡ കക്ഷിയല്ലാത്ത പാര്‍ട്ടി തമിഴ്നാട്ടില്‍ സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ രൂപീകരിക്കുന്നത്. കോണ്‍ഗ്രസ് നേതാവ് രാഹുല്‍ ഗാന്ധി ഉള്‍പ്പെടെയുള്ള പ്രമുഖര്‍ സത്യപ്രതിജ്ഞാ ചടങ്ങില്‍ പങ്കെടുത്തു.

മുന്‍ മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി എം.കെ. സ്റ്റാലിന്‍ പുതിയ സര്‍ക്കാരിന് ആശംസകള്‍ നേര്‍ന്നു. ജനക്ഷേമ പദ്ധതികള്‍ തുടരുമെന്ന് പ്രതീക്ഷിക്കുന്നതായും അദ്ദേഹം പ്രതികരിച്ചു.

Summary:  Marking a historic milestone in Tamil Nadu politics, actor and leader of the Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), Vijay, was sworn in as the State’s Chief Minister. The 51-year-old leader takes the reins of power, effectively ending over six decades of alternating rule between the DMK and the AIADMK. Along with him, nine cabinet ministers also took the oath of office.

Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar administered the oath of secrecy to Vijay at a grand ceremony held at the Nehru Stadium in Chennai. In the 234-member Assembly, where 118 seats are required for a majority, TVK emerged as the single largest party with 108 seats. With the backing of alliance partners, Vijay currently commands the support of 120 MLAs.

The formation of the government followed five days of political uncertainty after the election results were declared. Vijay met the Governor four times to submit letters of support proving his majority. Finally, on Saturday evening, the Governor invited him to form the government.

Although parties like the VCK initially hesitated, they declared unconditional support following lengthy negotiations, enabling Vijay to cross the magic number of 118. Having won from two constituencies—Perambur and Trichy East—Vijay will soon resign from one seat as per legal requirements.

This is the first time since CN Annadurai led the DMK to power in 1967 that a party outside the traditional Dravidian majors has formed the government in Tamil Nadu. Prominent leaders, including Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, attended the swearing-in ceremony.

Former Chief Minister M.K. Stalin extended his wishes to the new government, expressing hope that welfare schemes for the people would continue.
