In the Eliminator match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, Vaibhav played a breathtaking knock of 97 runs off just 28 balls. He was only one boundary away from shattering Chris Gayle's record for the fastest century in IPL history. However, instead of playing for personal milestones, he continued to attack for the sake of the team's victory and was caught at deep third man.

Reflecting on his missed century, the player later shared a philosophy taught by his father:

"My father always tells me that even if you score a hundred, a double hundred, or a triple hundred, those runs hold no value if the team doesn't win because of it. If I score 80 instead of a hundred and my team wins... that 80 means more to me than a century."

Six-Hitting Record

During that same Eliminator innings, the youngster smashed 12 sixes. With this, Vaibhav broke Chris Gayle's long-standing record for the most sixes hit in a single IPL season, taking his total tally to an astonishing 72 sixes this year.

Earlier in the tournament, Vaibhav registered his maiden IPL century (101 runs off 38 balls) against the Gujarat Titans, making him the youngest centurion in men’s T20 cricket. He followed that up by proving his mettle once again, scoring a ruthless 93 runs off just 38 deliveries against the Lucknow Super Giants at a strike rate of 244.73.

Following this historic IPL campaign and his earlier heroics in leading the India U-19 team to World Cup glory, the chorus for his inclusion into the senior national team is growing rapidly. The youngster has already earned a call-up to the India A squad for the upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka, putting him on the fast track to the senior Indian team.
