തൃശൂര്‍: പൂരങ്ങളുടെ പൂരമായ തൃശൂര്‍ പൂരത്തിന്റെ ആവേശത്തില്‍ സാംസ്‌കാരിക നഗരി അലിഞ്ഞുചേര്‍ന്നു. കത്തുന്ന വെയിലിനെ അവഗണിച്ചും ലക്ഷക്കണക്കിന് പൂരപ്രേമികളാണ് വടക്കുന്നാഥന്റെ തട്ടകത്തിലേക്ക് ഒഴുകിയെത്തിയത്. പൂരപ്രേമികളുടെയും നാടിന്റെയും മനം നൊമ്പരപ്പെടുത്തിയ വെടിക്കെട്ട് അപകടത്തിന്റെ നിഴലില്‍, 2026-ലെ തൃശൂര്‍ പൂരം ആചാരപരമായ ചടങ്ങുകളില്‍ മാത്രമൊതുക്കി നടത്തുകയാണ്.

രാവിലെ പത്തോടെ തിരുവമ്പാടി ഭഗവതിയുടെ മഠത്തില്‍ വരവ് നടന്നു. പഞ്ചവാദ്യത്തോടെയാണ് പ്രധാന പൂരച്ചടങ്ങുകള്‍ക്ക് തുടക്കമായത്. വാദ്യകുലപതികള്‍ അണിനിരന്ന പഞ്ചവാദ്യത്തിന്റെ താളലയങ്ങളില്‍ നഗരം ഇളകിമറിഞ്ഞു. 

ഉച്ചയ്ക്ക് പാറമേക്കാവ് വിഭാഗത്തിന്റെ പ്രസിദ്ധമായ ഇലഞ്ഞിത്തറ മേളം പാണ്ടിമേളത്തിന്റെ അകമ്പടിയോടെ വടക്കുന്നാഥ ക്ഷേത്രമതില്‍ക്കകത്ത് പുരോഗമിച്ചപ്പോള്‍ പൂര നഗരി ഇളകിമറിഞ്ഞു. പതിനഞ്ചോളം ആനകള്‍ അണിനിരന്ന തെക്കോട്ടിറക്കവും അതിനു പിന്നാലെ നടന്ന വിശ്വപ്രസിദ്ധമായ കുടമാറ്റവും കാണാന്‍ ജനസാഗരം തന്നെയാണ് തേക്കിന്‍കാട് മൈതാനത്ത് തടിച്ചുകൂടിയത്. 

വര്‍ണ്ണക്കുടകളുടെ വൈവിധ്യവും ആനച്ചമയങ്ങളുടെ തിളക്കവും പൂരനഗരിയെ വര്‍ണ്ണാഭമാക്കി. ഞായറാഴ്ച ആയതിനാല്‍ മുന്‍വര്‍ഷങ്ങളെ അപേക്ഷിച്ച് വന്‍ ജനത്തിരക്കാണ് ഇത്തവണ അനുഭവപ്പെടുന്നത്. സുരക്ഷാ ക്രമീകരണങ്ങള്‍ക്കായി വന്‍ പോലീസ് സജ്ജീകരണങ്ങളാണ് നഗരത്തില്‍ ഒരുക്കിയിട്ടുള്ളത്. 

ഏപ്രില്‍ 27 തിങ്കളാഴ്ച പകല്‍പ്പൂരത്തിന് ശേഷം ഉപചാരം ചൊല്ലി പിരിയുന്നതോടെ ഈ വര്‍ഷത്തെ ആഘോഷങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് സമാപനമാകും.

മുണ്ടത്തിക്കോട്ടെ പടക്ക നിര്‍മ്മാണശാലയിലുണ്ടായ ദൗര്‍ഭാഗ്യകരമായ അപകടത്തിന്റെ പശ്ചാത്തലത്തില്‍, ഇത്തവണത്തെ പൂരം ആഘോഷങ്ങള്‍ പരിമിതപ്പെടുത്തിയാണ് നടക്കുന്നത്. പൂരപ്രേമികളെ സംബന്ധിച്ചിടത്തോളം വേദനാജനകമാണെങ്കിലും സുരക്ഷ മുന്‍നിര്‍ത്തി കടുത്ത നിയന്ത്രണങ്ങളോടെയാണ് ചടങ്ങുകള്‍ പുരോഗമിക്കുന്നത്.

മുണ്ടത്തിക്കോട് പടക്ക നിര്‍മ്മാണശാലയിലുണ്ടായ അപകടത്തില്‍ ഉണ്ടായ ജീവഹാനിയും നാശനഷ്ടങ്ങളും കണക്കിലെടുത്ത്, ഇത്തവണത്തെ പ്രധാന വെടിക്കെട്ടും സാമ്പിള്‍ വെടിക്കെട്ടും ഒഴിവാക്കി. ആചാരപരമായ കാര്യങ്ങള്‍ക്കായി ഒരു വട്ടം മാത്രം കതിന പൊട്ടിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് ചടങ്ങുകള്‍ പൂര്‍ത്തിയാക്കാന്‍ പാറമേക്കാവ് - തിരുവമ്പാടി ദേവസ്വങ്ങള്‍ തീരുമാനിച്ചു.

കടുത്ത വേനല്‍ ചൂടും അപകടസാധ്യതകളും പരിഗണിച്ച് പൂരനഗരിയില്‍ കര്‍ശന നിയന്ത്രണങ്ങളാണ് പോലീസ് ഏര്‍പ്പെടുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നത്. ആനകളുടെ സുരക്ഷയ്ക്കും ആരോഗ്യത്തിനും പ്രത്യേക സംഘം മേല്‍നോട്ടം വഹിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്.

Ignoring the scorching heat, hundreds of thousands of enthusiasts flocked to the abode of Lord Vadakkunnathan. However, under the shadow of a tragic fireworks accident that deeply pained the local community and festival lovers, the 2026 Thrissur Pooram is being conducted with a focus on ceremonial rituals.

The main festivities commenced around 10:00 AM with the Madathil Varavu of the Thiruvambady Bhagavathy. The city swayed to the rhythmic patterns of the Panchavadyam, led by master percussionists.

By afternoon, the Pooram grounds were electrified as Paramekkavu’s famous Ilanjithara Melam progressed within the Vadakkunnathan Temple premises to the accompaniment of Pandimealam. A massive sea of humanity gathered at the Thekkinkadu Maidan to witness the Thekkottirakkam, featuring fifteen elephants, followed by the world-renowned Kudamattom (exchange of parasols).

The variety of vibrant umbrellas and the glitter of the golden elephant caparisons made the festival venue a visual spectacle. As it is a Sunday, the city is experiencing a record-breaking crowd compared to previous years, with extensive police arrangements in place for security and crowd management. The festivities will conclude on Monday, April 27, following the daytime Pooram and the Upacharam Chollyi Piriyal (farewell ceremony).

This year’s celebrations have been scaled back following the unfortunate explosion at a firecracker manufacturing unit in Mundathikkode. Although painful for enthusiasts, the rituals are proceeding under strict regulations prioritized for public safety.

In light of the loss of life and property caused by the Mundathikkode accident, both the main fireworks display and the sample fireworks were cancelled. The Paramekkavu and Thiruvambady Devaswoms decided to complete the rituals by detonating only a single ceremonial Kathina (iron cylinder cracker).

Due to the intense summer heat and safety concerns, the police have enforced rigorous controls across the festival area. Additionally, a special team is monitoring the health and safety of the elephants involved in the processions.
