Two More Indian Gas Tankers Cross Hormuz; LPG for Two Days’ Use to Reach the Country

ദുബായ്: പേര്‍ഷ്യന്‍ ഗള്‍ഫില്‍ നിന്ന് തിങ്കളാഴ്ച രാവിലെ യാത്ര തിരിച്ച പൈന്‍ ഗ്യാസ്, ജഗ് വസന്ത്  എന്നീ എല്‍പിജി ടാങ്കറുകള്‍ ഹോര്‍മുസ് കടലിടുക്ക് വിജയകരമായി കടന്നതായി കപ്പല്‍ ട്രാക്കിംഗ് വിവരങ്ങള്‍ സൂചിപ്പിക്കുന്നു. യുദ്ധം രൂക്ഷമായ ഈ മേഖലയിലൂടെ സുരക്ഷിതമായി നീങ്ങിയ ഈ കപ്പലുകള്‍ രണ്ട് ദിവസത്തിനുള്ളില്‍ ഇന്ത്യന്‍ തീരത്തെത്തും.

ഇറാനിലെ ലാരക്, ഖേഷ്ം ദ്വീപുകള്‍ക്കിടയിലുള്ള ജലപാതയിലൂടെയാണ് രണ്ട് കപ്പലുകളും സഞ്ചരിച്ചത്. ഇറാനിയന്‍ അധികൃതര്‍ക്ക് കപ്പലുകളെ തിരിച്ചറിയുന്നതിന് വേണ്ടിയാകാം ഈ പാത തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തതെന്ന് കരുതപ്പെടുന്നു.

രണ്ട് കപ്പലുകളിലുമായി 92,612 ടണ്‍ എല്‍പിജി (ഇന്ത്യയിലെ ഏകദേശം ഒരു ദിവസത്തെ പാചകവാതക ഉപഭോഗത്തിന് തുല്യം). ഈ കപ്പലുകളിലായി ആകെ 60 ഇന്ത്യന്‍ നാവികരുണ്ട് (33 പേര്‍ ഒരു കപ്പലിലും 27 പേര്‍ മറ്റൊന്നിലും). മാര്‍ച്ച് 26-നും 28-നും ഇടയില്‍ ഇന്ത്യന്‍ തുറമുഖങ്ങളില്‍ എത്തും.

പടിഞ്ഞാറന്‍ ഏഷ്യയിലെ യുദ്ധത്തെത്തുടര്‍ന്ന് ഹോര്‍മുസ് കടലിടുക്ക് ഏതാണ്ട് അടഞ്ഞ നിലയിലായപ്പോള്‍ പേര്‍ഷ്യന്‍ ഗള്‍ഫില്‍ കുടുങ്ങിയ 22 ഇന്ത്യന്‍ കപ്പലുകളില്‍ ഉള്‍പ്പെട്ടവയാണിത്. നേരത്തെ എംടി ശിവാലിക്, എംടി നന്ദാദേവി എന്നീ കപ്പലുകളും സമാനമായ രീതിയില്‍ സുരക്ഷിതമായി ഇന്ത്യയില്‍ എത്തിയിരുന്നു.

യുദ്ധം തുടങ്ങുമ്പോള്‍ മേഖലയില്‍ 28 ഇന്ത്യന്‍ കപ്പലുകളാണ് ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നത്. ഇപ്പോള്‍ പടിഞ്ഞാറന്‍ ഭാഗത്ത് 20 കപ്പലുകളും (പൈന്‍ ഗ്യാസും ജഗ് വസന്തും കടന്നതോടെ) കിഴക്കന്‍ ഭാഗത്ത് 2 കപ്പലുകളും ബാക്കിയുണ്ട്, ഷിപ്പിംഗ് മന്ത്രാലയം സ്‌പെഷ്യല്‍ സെക്രട്ടറി രാജേഷ് കുമാര്‍ സിന്‍ഹ പറഞ്ഞു.

കപ്പലുകളിലുള്ള നാവികരുടെ സുരക്ഷയ്ക്കാണ് നിലവില്‍ മുന്‍ഗണന നല്‍കുന്നത്. അവര്‍ക്ക് ഭക്ഷണത്തിനോ വെള്ളത്തിനോ നിലവില്‍ ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടില്ലെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു.

ഹോര്‍മുസ് കടലിടുക്കിലെ അനിശ്ചിതത്വം കാരണം ഇന്ത്യന്‍ ഓഹരി വിപണിയില്‍ വലിയ ഇടിവുണ്ടായി. സെന്‍സെക്‌സ് 1,600 പോയിന്റോളം താഴേക്ക് പോയി. ഇന്ത്യയുടെ ക്രൂഡ് ഓയില്‍ ഇറക്കുമതിയുടെ വലിയൊരു ഭാഗവും എല്‍പിജി ഇറക്കുമതിയുടെ 85-95 ശതമാനവും ഈ വഴിയിലൂടെയാണ് നടക്കുന്നത്. റഷ്യ, വെസ്റ്റ് ആഫ്രിക്ക തുടങ്ങിയ രാജ്യങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്ന് ബദല്‍ മാര്‍ഗങ്ങള്‍ കണ്ടെത്തുന്നുണ്ടെങ്കിലും പാചകവാതക വിതരണത്തില്‍ തടസ്സങ്ങള്‍ നേരിടുന്നുണ്ട്.

പരിശോധനകള്‍ക്ക് ശേഷം തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്ത കപ്പലുകളെ കടന്നുപോകാന്‍ ഇറാന്‍ അനുവദിക്കുന്നുണ്ടെന്നാണ് വിശകലന വിദഗ്ധര്‍ പറയുന്നത്. യുഎസ് കപ്പലുകളല്ലെന്ന് ഉറപ്പുവരുത്തിയ ശേഷമാണ് ഈ അനുമതി നല്‍കുന്നത്.

Summary: Dubai: Ship tracking data indicates that the LPG tankers Pine Gas and Jag Vasant, which departed from the Persian Gulf on Monday morning, have successfully crossed the Strait of Hormuz. These vessels, which navigated safely through the war-torn region, are expected to reach the Indian coast within two days.

Both ships sailed through the waterway between Iran’s Larak and Qeshm islands. It is believed this route was chosen to make the vessels' identities clear to Iranian authorities.

Cargo: The two ships are carrying 92,612 tonnes of LPG (equivalent to approximately one day’s cooking gas consumption in India).

Crew: There are a total of 60 Indian seafarers on board (33 on one vessel and 27 on the other).

Arrival: They are expected to reach Indian ports between March 26 and March 28.

These were among the 22 Indian vessels stranded in the Persian Gulf after the Strait of Hormuz became nearly impassable due to the war in West Asia. Previously, the vessels MT Shivalik and MT Nanda Devi had also reached India safely in a similar manner.

Rajesh Kumar Sinha, Special Secretary in the Ministry of Shipping, stated:

At the start of the war, there were 28 Indian vessels in the region. Currently, 20 vessels remain on the Western side (following the departure of Pine Gas and Jag Vasant) and 2 vessels remain on the Eastern side. The primary focus is currently on the safety of the seafarers. He added that there are no shortages of food or water for them at this time.

The uncertainty in the Strait of Hormuz caused a major crash in the Indian stock market, with the Sensex dropping by nearly 1,600 points. A significant portion of India’s crude oil imports and 85–95% of its LPG imports pass through this route. Although alternative sources are being sought from countries like Russia and West Africa, there are still disruptions in the supply of cooking gas.

Analysts suggest that Iran is allowing selected vessels to pass after verification, granting permission only after ensuring the vessels are not from the US.
