ശ്രീനഗര്‍: ജമ്മു കശ്മീര്‍ നാഷണല്‍ കോണ്‍ഫറന്‍സ് അധ്യക്ഷനും മുന്‍ മുഖ്യമന്ത്രിയുമായ ഫാറൂഖ് അബ്ദുള്ളയ്ക്ക് നേരെ വധശ്രമം. ബുധനാഴ്ച വൈകുന്നേരം ജമ്മുവില്‍ ഒരു വിവാഹ ചടങ്ങില്‍ പങ്കെടുക്കുന്നതിനിടെയാണ് അക്രമി അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് നേരെ വെടിയുതിര്‍ത്തത്.

ഫാറൂഖ് അബ്ദുള്ളയുടെ തൊട്ടുപിന്നിലെത്തിയ അക്രമി തോക്കുചൂണ്ടി വെടിയുതിര്‍ത്തെങ്കിലും, നാഷണല്‍ സെക്യൂരിറ്റി ഗാര്‍ഡ് കമാന്‍ഡോകള്‍ അക്രമിയെ തള്ളിയതിനാല്‍ വെടിയുണ്ട ലക്ഷ്യം തെറ്റി. അബ്ദുള്ള തലനാരിഴയ്ക്കാണ് രക്ഷപ്പെട്ടതെന്ന് പുറത്തുവന്ന ദൃശ്യങ്ങള്‍ വ്യക്തമാക്കുന്നു.

അക്രമിയെ ജമ്മുവിലെ പുരാനി മണ്ഡി സ്വദേശിയായ കമല്‍ സിംഗ് ജംവാള്‍ എന്ന് തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞു. ഇയാളെ ഉടന്‍ തന്നെ കസ്റ്റഡിയിലെടുത്തു. പിടിയിലായതിന് പിന്നാലെ ജനങ്ങള്‍ ഇയാളെ മര്‍ദിക്കുന്ന വീഡിയോകളും പുറത്തുവന്നിട്ടുണ്ട്. 65 കാരനായ ഇയാള്‍ക്ക് തന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തിയില്‍ യാതൊരു ഖേദവുമില്ലെന്നും കഴിഞ്ഞ 20 വര്‍ഷമായി താന്‍ ഈ നിമിഷത്തിനായി കാത്തിരിക്കുകയായിരുന്നുവെന്നും അയാള്‍ പോലീസിനോട് പറഞ്ഞു.

സംഭവത്തിനു പിന്നില്‍ ഭീകര ബന്ധമില്ലെന്നും പ്രതിയുടെ വ്യക്തിവൈരാഗ്യമാണ് സംഭവത്തിനു പിന്നിലെന്നും പൊലീസ് പറഞ്ഞു. ലൈസന്‍സുള്ള തോക്ക് തന്നെയാണ് അക്രമത്തിന് ഉപയോഗിച്ചത്.

ജമ്മു ഗ്രേറ്റര്‍ കൈലാഷിലെ റോയല്‍ പാര്‍ക്കിലായിരുന്നു വിവാഹ ചടങ്ങ്. സെഡ് പ്ലസ് സുരക്ഷയുള്ള ഫാറൂഖ് അബ്ദുള്ളയുടെ അടുത്തേക്ക് തോക്കുമായി ഒരാള്‍ എങ്ങനെ എത്തിയെന്നതില്‍ വലിയ ആശങ്ക ഉയര്‍ന്നിട്ടുണ്ട്.

അള്ളാഹുവിന്റെ കരുണ കൊണ്ടാണ് തന്റെ പിതാവ് രക്ഷപ്പെട്ടതെന്ന് മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി ഒമര്‍ അബ്ദുള്ള എക്‌സില്‍ കുറിച്ചു. സുരക്ഷാ വീഴ്ചയെക്കുറിച്ച് നിരവധി ചോദ്യങ്ങള്‍ ഉയരുന്നുണ്ടെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം കൂട്ടിച്ചേര്‍ത്തു.

സംഭവസമയത്ത് ജമ്മു കശ്മീര്‍ ഉപമുഖ്യമന്ത്രി സുരീന്ദര്‍ ചൗധരി, മുഖ്യമന്ത്രിയുടെ ഉപദേശകന്‍ നാസിര്‍ സോഗാമി എന്നിവരും ഫാറൂഖ് അബ്ദുള്ളയോടൊപ്പമുണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

ഈ സംഭവത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് കൂടുതല്‍ വിശദമായ അന്വേഷണം വേണമെന്ന് നാഷണല്‍ കോണ്‍ഫറന്‍സ് നേതാക്കള്‍ ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടു.

Srinagar: An assassination attempt was made on Farooq Abdullah, President of the Jammu & Kashmir National Conference and former Chief Minister. The attacker fired at him on Wednesday evening while he was attending a wedding ceremony in Jammu.

The attacker approached directly behind Farooq Abdullah and opened fire. However, National Security Guard (NSG) commandos pushed the assailant, causing the shot to miss its target. Dramatic visuals from the scene confirm that Abdullah had a narrow escape.

The attacker has been identified as Kamal Singh Jamwal, a resident of Purani Mandi, Jammu. He was immediately taken into custody. Videos surfaced showing the public thrashing him shortly after he was caught. The 65-year-old attacker reportedly expressed no remorse, telling the police he had been waiting for this moment for the last 20 years.

The incident occurred during a wedding at Royal Park in Greater Kailash, Jammu. Serious concerns have been raised regarding how an armed individual managed to get so close to Farooq Abdullah, who is protected by Z+ security.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah posted on X (formerly Twitter) stating that his father survived by "Allah’s grace." He added that there are many unanswered questions regarding the security lapse.

At the time of the incident, J&K Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary and Advisor to the CM Nasir Sogami were also present with Farooq Abdullah. National Conference leaders have demanded a thorough and detailed investigation into the matter.
