തിരുവനന്തപുരം: വിഴിഞ്ഞത്ത് ഹോട്ടലില്‍ നിന്ന് ഭക്ഷണം കഴിച്ചതിനു പിന്നാലെ ഛര്‍ദ്ദിയുണ്ടായി ആശുപത്രിയില്‍ പ്രവേശിപ്പിക്കപ്പെട്ട രണ്ടു പേര്‍ മരിച്ചു. ഭക്ഷ്യവിഷബാധയെന്നു സംശിക്കുന്നതായി പൊലീസ് പറഞ്ഞു. കൊല്ലം നിലമേല്‍ സ്വദേശികളായ റഷീദാ ബീവി (58), മരുമകന്‍ ഷാജി (42) എന്നിവരാണ് മരിച്ചത്. 

തിങ്കളാഴ്ച രാത്രി 9 മണിയോടെ വിഴിഞ്ഞത്തെ മുഹിയിദ്ദീന്‍ പള്ളിക്കു സമീപമുള്ള അസ്മാക് ഹോട്ടലില്‍ നിന്ന് ഇവര്‍ അടങ്ങുന്ന ആറംഗ കുടുംബം ഭക്ഷണം കഴിച്ചിരുന്നു. ഉച്ചയ്ക്ക് ശേഷം പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്ന, മത്സ്യവിഭവങ്ങള്‍ വില്‍ക്കുന്ന ഹോട്ടലാണിത്.

ഭക്ഷണം കഴിച്ച ആറുപേരില്‍ നാലുപേര്‍ക്ക് അസ്വസ്ഥത അനുഭവപ്പെട്ടു. ഹോട്ടലില്‍ നിന്നിറങ്ങിയ ഉടന്‍ തന്നെ ഇവര്‍ക്ക് ഛര്‍ദിയും മറ്റ് ശാരീരിക ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടുകളും അനുഭവപ്പെട്ടതായി ബന്ധുക്കള്‍ പറയുന്നു.

ഗുരുതരാവസ്ഥയിലായ റഷീദാ ബീവിയും ഷാജിയും ആശുപത്രിയില്‍ മരിച്ചു. ഇവരുടെ മൃതദേഹങ്ങള്‍ തിരുവനന്തപുരം, പാരിപ്പള്ളി മെഡിക്കല്‍ കോളജുകളിലായി സൂക്ഷിച്ചിരിക്കുകയാണ്.

ഷാജിയുടെ ഭാര്യയും ആശുപത്രിയില്‍ ചികിത്സയിലാണ്. കുടുംബത്തിലുണ്ടായിരുന്ന രണ്ട് കുട്ടികള്‍ക്ക് നിലവില്‍ ആരോഗ്യപ്രശ്‌നങ്ങളൊന്നും റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട് ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല.

മരണകാരണം ഭക്ഷ്യവിഷബാധയാണോ എന്ന് ശാസ്ത്രീയ പരിശോധനകള്‍ക്ക് ശേഷമേ സ്ഥിരീകരിക്കാന്‍ കഴിയൂ എന്ന് ആരോഗ്യവകുപ്പും പോലീസും അറിയിച്ചു. നിലവില്‍ മുന്‍കരുതല്‍ നടപടിയായി ഹോട്ടല്‍ പോലീസ് അടപ്പിച്ചു. ഭക്ഷ്യസുരക്ഷാ വകുപ്പ് ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥര്‍ ഹോട്ടലില്‍ പരിശോധന നടത്തും.

Summary:  Two people have died after being hospitalized with vomiting shortly after consuming food from a hotel in Vizhinjam. Police suspect food poisoning to be the cause of death. The deceased have been identified as Rasheeda Beevi (58) and her son-in-law Shaji (42), both residents of Nilamel, Kollam.

The incident occurred after a six-member family ate at the Asmak Hotel, located near the Muhiyidheen Mosque in Vizhinjam, around 9:00 PM on Monday. The establishment is a local eatery specializing in fish dishes that operates from the afternoon onwards.

Out of the six family members who shared the meal, four experienced severe physical distress. According to relatives, they began suffering from vomiting and other complications almost immediately after leaving the hotel.

Both Rasheeda Beevi and Shaji passed away while undergoing treatment after their conditions turned critical. Their bodies are currently being kept at the Thiruvananthapuram and Parippally Medical Colleges.

Shaji’s wife is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital. Two children who were part of the group have not reported any health issues so far.

The Health Department and Police stated that the exact cause of death can only be confirmed after scientific forensic examinations.

 As a precautionary step, the police have ordered the closure of the hotel. Food Safety Department officials are scheduled to conduct a detailed inspection of the premises.
