തിരുവനന്തപുരം: ഐ.എസ്.ആര്‍.ഒ.യുടെ പി.എസ്.എല്‍.വി. സി-39 വിക്ഷേപണം പരാജയപ്പെട്ടതിനു പിന്നില്‍ അട്ടിമറി നടന്നുവോ എന്ന് അന്വേഷിക്കാന്‍ ദേശീയ സുരക്ഷാ ഉപദേഷ്ടാവ് അജിത് ഡോവല്‍ തിരുവനന്തപുരത്തെത്തി രണ്ടു ദിവസം താമസിച്ചു. പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിയുടെ പ്രത്യേക നിര്‍ദ്ദേശപ്രകാരമാണ് ഡോവല്‍ തന്നെ നേരിട്ടെത്തിയത്. അന്വേഷണത്തിന് ശേഷം അദ്ദേഹം തയ്യാറാക്കിയ റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട് പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിക്ക് സമര്‍പ്പിച്ചതായാണ് വിവരം.

വ്യാഴാഴ്ച രാവിലെ വിക്രം സാരാഭായ് സ്‌പേസ് സെന്ററിലെത്തിയ (വി.എസ്.എസ്.സി) അദ്ദേഹം ഉന്നത ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥരുമായി കൂടിക്കാഴ്ച നടത്തിയിരുന്നു. വിക്ഷേപണ പരാജയത്തിന് പിന്നില്‍ അട്ടിമറിയാണോ എന്നതാണ് പ്രധാനമായും അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നത്. പ്രത്യേക വിമാനത്തിലെത്തിയ അദ്ദേഹം രണ്ടു ദിവസം നഗരത്തില്‍ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

വി.എസ്.എസ്.സി ഡയറക്ടര്‍ രാജരാജന്‍, ഐ.എസ്.ആര്‍.ഒ ചെയര്‍മാന്‍ ഡോ വി നാരായണന്‍ എന്നിവരുമായും അദ്ദേഹം ചര്‍ച്ചകള്‍ നടത്തിയതായി അറിയുന്നു. വിക്ഷേപണ വാഹനത്തിന്റെ ഹീറ്റ് ഷീല്‍ഡ് വേര്‍പെടാതിരുന്നതാണ് വിക്ഷേപണം പരാജയപ്പെടാന്‍ കാരണമായത്.

സാധാരണ ഗതിയില്‍ ഒരു വിക്ഷേപണം പരാജയപ്പെടുമ്പോള്‍ ഐ.എസ്.ആര്‍.ഒ ആഭ്യന്തര അന്വേഷണമാണ് നടത്താറുള്ളത്. എന്നാല്‍ ഇത്തവണ ദേശീയ സുരക്ഷാ ഉപദേഷ്ടാവ് നേരിട്ടെത്തി അന്വേഷണം നടത്തുന്നത് വിഷയത്തിന്റെ ഗൗരവം വര്‍ദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്നു. പ്രതിരോധ മേഖലയുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട ഉപഗ്രഹമായിരുന്നു പി.എസ്.എല്‍.വി. സി-39 വിക്ഷേപിക്കാന്‍ ലക്ഷ്യമിട്ടിരുന്നത് എന്നതും ഇതിന് കാരണമാണ്.

തുമ്പയിലെ വി.എസ്.എസ്.സിയിലും വട്ടിയൂര്‍ക്കാവിലെ ഐ.എസ്.ആര്‍.ഒ ഇനേര്‍ഷ്യല്‍ സിസ്റ്റംസ് യൂണിറ്റിലും (ഐ.ഐ.എസ്.യു) അദ്ദേഹം സന്ദര്‍ശനം നടത്തി. സുരക്ഷാ ക്രമീകരണങ്ങള്‍ വിലയിരുത്തുന്നതിനൊപ്പം ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞരില്‍ നിന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം വിവരങ്ങള്‍ തേടി.

സന്ദര്‍ശനം: പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി നരേന്ദ്ര മോദിയുടെ കേരള സന്ദര്‍ശനത്തിനു മുന്നേയായിരുന്നു ദേശീയ സുരക്ഷാ ഉപദേഷ്ടാവ് തിരുവനന്തപുരത്ത് എത്തിയത്. 

ഐഎസ്ആര്‍ഒയുടെ വിശ്വസ്ത വിക്ഷേപണ വാഹനമായ പിഎസ്എല്‍വി തുടര്‍ച്ചയായി പരാജയപ്പെടുന്നത് കേന്ദ്ര സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ ഗൗരവത്തിലാണ് കാണുന്നത്. 

2026 ജനുവരി 12-ന് നടന്ന പിഎസ്എല്‍വി-സി 62 വിക്ഷേപണത്തില്‍ വിദേശ രാജ്യങ്ങളുടേതടക്കം 16 ഉപഗ്രഹങ്ങള്‍ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. എന്നാല്‍ റോക്കറ്റിന്റെ മൂന്നാം ഘട്ട ജ്വലനത്തിലുണ്ടായ തകരാര്‍ കാരണം വിക്ഷേപണ പാതയില്‍ വ്യതിയാനം സംഭവിക്കുകയും ദൗത്യം പരാജയപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്തു. ഇതില്‍ ഇന്ത്യയുടെ ഭൗമ നിരീക്ഷണ ഉപഗ്രഹമായ 'അന്വേഷ'യും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. കഴിഞ്ഞ വര്‍ഷം മേയില്‍ നടന്ന പിഎസ്എല്‍വി-സി 61 വിക്ഷേപണവും പരാജയപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു.

Summary: National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval visited Thiruvananthapuram and stayed for two days to investigate whether sabotage played a role in the failure of ISRO's PSLV C-39 mission. During his two-day stay in the city, he reportedly held discussions with VSSC Director Rajarajan and ISRO Chairman Dr. V. Narayanan. The failure of the PSLV C-39 mission was caused by the heat shield failing to separate from the launch vehicle.

Increased Scrutiny and National Security

Typically, when a launch fails, ISRO conducts an internal departmental inquiry. However, the direct involvement of the National Security Advisor underscores the gravity of the situation. This heightened concern stems from the fact that the PSLV C-39 was intended to launch a satellite critical to the defense sector.

Doval visited the VSSC in Thumba and the ISRO Inertial Systems Unit (IISU) in Vattiyoorkavu. In addition to reviewing security protocols, he sought detailed technical information from the scientists.

Context of the Visit

The NSA’s visit took place just ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Kerala. The Central Government is viewing the consecutive failures of the PSLV—long considered ISRO's most reliable workhorse—with extreme seriousness.

Recent Failures: * January 12, 2026: The PSLV-C62 mission, carrying 16 satellites including those from foreign nations, failed. A malfunction in the rocket's third-stage ignition caused a trajectory deviation. India’s Earth observation satellite, 'Anvesha', was lost in this mission.

May 2025: The PSLV-C61 launch also ended in failure last year.
