"It was a brilliant operation," Trump told The New York Times shortly after U.S. forces withdrew from Venezuelan airspace. Speaking on the program 'Fox & Friends', he added that while some U.S. soldiers were injured in the assault, none were killed.

This move in Venezuela follows Trump’s previous directive in June to strike Iranian nuclear sites. Reports suggest that the old methods of the U.S. seeking global consensus on matters of war and peace are now a thing of the past, and Saturday's action has sparked new anxieties among world nations.

On Friday, Trump issued a fresh warning to Iran, stating that if the government kills peaceful protesters—who are demonstrating against the collapse of the Iranian currency—the United States will come to their rescue. By conducting the Venezuela operation, Trump has fulfilled his promise to assert U.S. dominance in the Western Hemisphere, as outlined in the National Security Strategy published last month.

Trump announced that the U.S. would temporarily govern Venezuela during a press conference held at his Florida residence. This declaration came hours after U.S. Special Forces launched a surprise attack to capture President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.

"We will govern that country until such time as there is a safe and proper transition of power," Trump clarified.

Praising the military operation in his signature style, Trump described it as a display of "overwhelming military power" and a "spectacular assault." He claimed it was one of the most effective and powerful maneuvers in American military history.

Trump, who had previously criticized the invasion of Iraq, now appears to be embarking on a "nation-building" mission in Venezuela. He stated that major U.S. companies would arrive to revive Venezuela’s shattered oil industry and help the country generate revenue. He further warned that the U.S. is prepared for a much larger attack against Venezuela if necessary, though he believes it may not be needed given the massive success of the first phase.

Maduro was captured after U.S. forces breached a heavily fortified military fortress in Caracas. He will face trial in a New York court on charges including narco-terrorism against the United States.
