കിളിമാനൂര്‍ : തിരുവനന്തപുരം ജില്ലയിലെ കിളിമാനൂരില്‍ ദമ്പതികളുടെ മരണത്തിനിടയാക്കിയ മഹിന്ദ്ര ഥാര്‍ ജീപ്പ് തെളിവുനശിപ്പിക്കാനായി ബോധപൂര്‍വം കത്തിച്ചതാണെന്ന സംശയം ബലപ്പെടുന്നു. 

ജനുവരി നാലിനുണ്ടായ അപകടത്തില്‍ കുമ്മിള്‍ മുക്കുന്നം പുതുക്കോട് രാജേഷ് ഭവനില്‍ രഞ്ജിത്തിന്റെ ഭാര്യ അംബിക (36) മരിച്ചിരുന്നു. അപകടത്തില്‍ പരിക്കേറ്റു ചികിത്സയിലായിരുന്ന രഞ്ജിത്ത് (41) ഇന്നു തിരുവനന്തപുരം മെഡിക്കല്‍ കോളേജ് ആശുപത്രിയില്‍ മരിച്ചു.

രഞ്ജിത്തിന്റെ മൃതദേഹവുമായി നാട്ടുകാര്‍ കിളിമാനൂില്‍ എം സി റോഡ് ഉപരോധിച്ചിരുന്നു. മദ്യലഹരിയില്‍ അതിവേഗത്തിലെത്തി അപകടമുണ്ടാക്കിയവരെ ഉടന്‍ പിടികൂടാമെന്നു പൊലീസ് ഉറപ്പു നല്കിയതിനെ തുടര്‍ന്നാണ് നാട്ടുകാര്‍ പ്രതിഷേധം അവസാനിപ്പിച്ചത്. 

നാട്ടുകാര്‍ റോഡ് ഉപരോധിക്കുന്നു, കത്തിയ കാര്‍

പെയിന്റിംഗ് തൊഴിലാളിയായ രാജേഷ് ഭാര്യയുമായി കിളിമാനൂരില്‍ നിന്നു പുതുക്കോട്ടേയ്ക്കു പോകുമ്പോഴായിരുന്നു അമിത വേഗത്തിലെത്തിയ ജീപ്പ് ഇവരെ ഇടിച്ചു തെറിപ്പിച്ചത്. ജീപ്പിലുണ്ടായിരുന്നവര്‍ മദ്യലഹരിയിലായിരുന്നു. ദമ്പതികളെ ഇടിച്ചിട്ട കാര്‍ ഇലക്ട്രിക് പോസ്റ്റിലും ഇടിച്ചു. അവിടെനിന്നു രക്ഷപ്പെടാന്‍ ശ്രമിച്ച വാഹന ഉടമ വള്ളക്കടവ് സ്വദേശി വിഷ്ണുവിനെ നാട്ടുകാര്‍ തടഞ്ഞുവച്ച് കിളിമാനൂര്‍ പൊലീസില്‍ ഏല്പിച്ചു. 

എന്നാല്‍, പൊലീസ് പിന്നീട് ഇയാളെ വിട്ടയച്ചു. ജീപ്പില്‍ നിന്നിറങ്ങി രണ്ടു പേര്‍ ഓടി രക്ഷപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു. ഇതിലൊരാള്‍ പൊലീസ് ഉന്നതനാണെന്ന് നാട്ടുകാര്‍ സംശയിക്കുന്നു. വാഹനത്തില്‍ നിന്ന് ഉന്നത പൊലീസ് ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥന്റെ തിരിച്ചറിയല്‍ കാര്‍ഡ് കിട്ടിയിരുന്നു. ഇതാണ് പ്രതിയെ രക്ഷപ്പെടാന്‍ സഹായിക്കാന്‍ കാരണമെന്നു പറയുന്നു. 

ഇതിനിടെയാണ് ഇന്നലെ റോഡുവക്കില്‍ പിടിച്ചിട്ടിരുന്ന കാറിന് ആരോ രാത്രിയില്‍ തീയിട്ടത്. ഇതു ബോധപൂര്‍വം തെളിവു നശിപ്പിക്കാനായി ചെയ്തതാണെന്നു നാട്ടുകാര്‍ ആരോപിക്കുന്നു. ഇതിനു പിന്നാലെയാണ് രഞ്ജിത്ത് മരിച്ചതും. 

ഇതോടെയാണ് നാട്ടുകാര്‍ പ്രകോപിതരായത്. സംഭവത്തില്‍ ആരെയൊക്കെയോ രക്ഷിക്കാന്‍ പൊലീസ് ശ്രമിക്കുന്നുവെന്നാണ് നാട്ടുകാരുടെ ആക്ഷേപം. 

അപകടത്തെക്കുറിച്ചും പിന്നീട് ജീപ്പ് കത്തിച്ചതിനെക്കുറിച്ചും വിശദമായ അന്വേഷണം നടത്തിവരികയാണ് എന്നാണ് പൊലീസ് ഭാഷ്യം.

ഈ ദുരന്തത്തോടെ രണ്ട് പിഞ്ചുകുഞ്ഞുങ്ങള്‍ അനാഥരായിരിക്കുകയാണ്. ഒന്നരയും ആറും വയസ്സുള്ള രണ്ടു കുട്ടികളാണ് രഞ്ജിത്ത്-അംബിക ദമ്പതികള്‍ക്കുള്ളത്.

The accident, which occurred on January 4, initially claimed the life of Ambika (36), wife of Ranjith from Rajesh Bhavan, Puthukkode. Her husband, Ranjith (41), a painting worker, succumbed to his injuries today while undergoing treatment at the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital.

Protests and Allegations

Following Ranjith’s death, local residents staged a massive protest, blocking the MC Road in Kilimanoor with his body. The protest was only called off after the police provided a firm assurance that those responsible—who were reportedly driving under the influence of alcohol—would be arrested immediately.

The Accident: The couple was traveling from Kilimanoor to Puthukkode when a speeding Jeep rammed into them.

The Escape: After hitting the couple, the vehicle crashed into an electric pole. While locals managed to apprehend the vehicle owner, Vishnu (a resident of Vallakkadavu), and hand him over to the police, he was later released.

High-Profile Involvement: Two other occupants of the Jeep fled the scene. Locals suspect one of them is a senior police officer, as an official police ID card was reportedly recovered from the vehicle. This has led to allegations that the police are trying to protect one of their own.

Destroying Evidence: In a suspicious turn of events, the impounded vehicle, which was parked by the roadside, was set on fire last night. Residents believe this was a calculated move to destroy forensic evidence.

The deaths of Ranjith and Ambika have left their two young children—aged one-and-a-half and six years old—orphaned.

While the police maintain that a detailed investigation is underway regarding both the accident and the subsequent arson, the local community remains skeptical, alleging a coordinated effort to shield the culprits.
