വൈകിട്ട് 6:30-ന് തുടങ്ങേണ്ടിയിരുന്ന മത്സരത്തിനായി കാണികളും താരങ്ങളും മൂന്ന് മണിക്കൂറോളം കാത്തിരുന്നു. അംപയര്‍മാര്‍ ഏഴു തവണ മൈതാനം പരിശോധിച്ചെങ്കിലും കാഴ്ചപരിധി ഒട്ടും മെച്ചപ്പെടാത്തതിനെ തുടര്‍ന്ന് രാത്രി 9:30-ന് മത്സരം ഉപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നതായി ഔദ്യോഗികമായി അറിയിച്ചു.

കാലിനേറ്റ പരിക്കിനെ തുടര്‍ന്ന് ഇന്ത്യന്‍ വൈസ് ക്യാപ്റ്റന്‍ ശുഭ്മന്‍ ഗില്ലിനെ പരമ്പരയിലെ ബാക്കി മത്സരങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്ന് ഒഴിവാക്കി. ഗില്ലിന്റെ അഭാവത്തില്‍ സഞ്ജു സാംസണ്‍ ഓപ്പണറായി ഇറങ്ങാനായിരുന്നു സാധ്യത. എന്നാല്‍, മൂടല്‍ മഞ്ഞിന്റെ രൂപത്തില്‍ ദൗര്‍ഭാഗ്യം സഞ്ജുവിന്റെ സാദ്ധ്യത ഇല്ലാതാക്കി. ഇതോടെ സഞ്ജു ആരാധകരും കടുത്ത നിരാശയിലായി.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor and others pointed out on social media that poor air quality and smog in Lucknow were the reasons for the low visibility. He suggested that to avoid such situations, matches should be scheduled in cities like Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala, where weather conditions are better.

Meanwhile, Abhishek Sharma needs just 47 more runs to break Virat Kohli’s record for the most runs scored by an Indian in T20s in a single calendar year. Fans are eagerly waiting to see if he can achieve this feat in the next game.
