Congress Leader N. Subrahmanian Detained for Sharing Photo of CM with Smuggling Case Accused; Workers Protest at Chevayur Station

കോഴിക്കോട്: ശബരിമല സ്വര്ണക്കൊള്ള കേസിലെ മുഖ്യപ്രതി ഉണ്ണികൃഷ്ണന് പോറ്റിയും മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി പിണറായി വിജയനും ഒന്നിച്ചുള്ള ഫോട്ടോ സമൂഹമാധ്യമങ്ങളില് പങ്കുവച്ചതിന്റെ പേരില് കോണ്ഗ്രസ് നേതാവ് എന്. സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യനെ വീട്ടില് നിന്നു പൊലീസ് കസ്റ്റഡിയിലെടുത്തു. തുടര്ന്ന് ചേവായൂര് പൊലീസ് സ്റ്റേഷനു മുന്നില് കോണ്ഗ്രസ് പ്രവര്ത്തകര് പ്രതിഷേധിച്ചു.
കെ.പി.സി.സി രാഷ്ട്രീയകാര്യ സമിതി അംഗമായ എന്. സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യനെ ശനിയാഴ്ച രാവിലെ എട്ടുമണിയോടെ കോഴിക്കോട്ടെ വീട്ടിലെത്തിയാണ് ചേവായൂര് പൊലീസ് കസ്റ്റഡിയിലെടുത്തത്.
'മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി പിണറായി വിജയനും ഉണ്ണികൃഷ്ണന് പോറ്റിയും തമ്മില് ഇത്രയും അഗാധമായ ബന്ധം ഉണ്ടാകാന് കാരണം എന്തായിരിക്കും' എന്ന കുറിപ്പോടെ ചിത്രം പങ്കുവച്ചതിനാണ് കേസെടുത്തത്. കലാപ ആഹ്വാനം ഉള്പ്പെടെയുള്ള വകുപ്പുകള് പ്രകാരമാണ് പൊലീസ് സ്വമേധയാ കേസ് രജിസ്റ്റര് ചെയ്തത്.
വീട്ടില് കണ്ട് മൊഴിയെടുക്കാനാണ് പൊലീസ് എത്തിയത്. ഇതിനിടെ, ഉന്നതങ്ങളില് നിന്നു വന്ന ഫോണ് കോളിന്റെ അടിസ്ഥാനത്തില് തെളിവെടുപ്പ് പകുതിയില് നിറുത്തി അദ്ദേഹത്തെ കസ്റ്റഡിയിലെടുക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.
രാവിലെ തന്നെ പൊലീസ് ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥര് വീട്ടില് എത്തുകയായിരുന്നുവെന്നും പ്രാഥമിക കാര്യങ്ങള് പോലും നടത്താന് സമ്മതിക്കാതെ ബലം പ്രയോഗിച്ച് കസ്റ്റഡിയില് എടുക്കുകയായിരുന്നുവെന്നും എന് സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യന് പ്രതികരിച്ചു. ഇടയ്ക്ക് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് ശാരീരിക അസ്വാസ്ഥ്യമുണ്ടായതിനെ തുടര്ന്ന് ആശുപത്രിയിലും പ്രവേശിപ്പിച്ചിരുന്നു.
ഫോട്ടോയുടെ ആധികാരികത വ്യക്തമാക്കുമെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം മാധ്യമങ്ങളോട് പറഞ്ഞു. മുഖ്യമന്ത്രിയുടെ ഓഫിസ് പുറത്തുവിട്ട വീഡിയോയില് നിന്നുള്ള ദൃശ്യമാണിതെന്നും, ഇതേ ചിത്രം ബി.ജെ.പി സംസ്ഥാന അധ്യക്ഷന് രാജീവ് ചന്ദ്രശേഖര് പങ്കുവച്ചിട്ടും അദ്ദേഹത്തിനെതിരെ കേസില്ലെന്നും സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യന് ആരോപിച്ചു. താന് സന്തോഷത്തോടെ ജയിലില് പോകാന് തയ്യാറാണെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം കൂട്ടിച്ചേര്ത്തു.
ഇതിനെതിരെ കോണ്ഗ്രസ് ശക്തമായ പ്രതിഷേധവുമായി രംഗത്തെത്തി. ജാമ്യം ലഭിക്കാവുന്ന വകുപ്പുകള് മാത്രമുള്ള കേസില് പൊലീസിന്റെ നടപടി ജനാധിപത്യവിരുദ്ധമാണെന്ന് ഡി.സി.സി പ്രസിഡന്റ് കെ. പ്രവീണ്കുമാര് പറഞ്ഞു.
മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി ആംബുലന്സ് ഉദ്ഘാടനം ചെയ്യുന്ന ചടങ്ങിന്റെ വീഡിയോ ദൃശ്യങ്ങളില് നിന്നുള്ള ചിത്രമാണിതെന്നാണ് കോണ്ഗ്രസ് വൃത്തങ്ങള് പറയുന്നത്.
ചോദ്യം ചെയ്യലിന് ശേഷം സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യന്റെ അറസ്റ്റ് ഉള്പ്പെടെയുള്ള നടപടികളിലേക്ക് പൊലീസ് കടക്കുമെന്നാണ് സൂചന. രാഷ്ട്രീയ പ്രേരിതമായ നടപടിയാണിതെന്ന് കോണ്ഗ്രസ് ആരോപിക്കുന്നു.
കേന്ദ്രത്തിന്റെ കാര്ബണ് പതിപ്പാണ് ആഭ്യന്തര വകുപ്പെന്ന് എ ഐ സിസി ജനറല് സെക്രട്ടറി കെ സി വേണുഗോപാല് ആരോപിച്ചു. വീട് വളഞ്ഞ് അറസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്യാന് സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യന് കൊലക്കേസിലെ പ്രതിയാണോ എന്നും വേണുഗോപാല് ചോദിച്ചു. സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യന് എങ്ങും ഒളിവില്പോയിട്ടില്ല. കടകംപള്ളിയും ഉണ്ണികൃഷ്ണന് പോറ്റിയുമായുള്ള പുതിയ ചിത്രം എ ഐ ആണെന്ന് തോന്നുന്നുണ്ടോ. നിയമപരമായ നടപടിയെ ആരും ചോദ്യം ചെയ്യാറില്ല എന്നാല് നിയമം എല്ലാവര്ക്കും ഒരുപോലെ തന്നെ ബാധകമായിരിക്കണമെന്ന് കെ സി വേണുഗോപാല് പറഞ്ഞു.
കടകംപള്ളിയും പോറ്റിയുമായുള്ള പുതിയ ചിത്രത്തില് മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി മറുപടി പറയണം. മുഖ്യമന്ത്രിക്ക് മാത്രമാണ് പൊലീസ് പരിരക്ഷ.എന് സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യന്റെ അറസ്റ്റ് ഇരട്ടത്താപ്പാണെന്ന കാര്യത്തില് ഒരു സംശയവും ഇല്ല. ഇതൊക്കെ കാണിച്ച് പേടിപ്പിച്ച് സ്വര്ണക്കൊള്ള മറച്ചുവെക്കാമെന്ന് ആരും കരുത്തേണ്ടെന്ന് കെ സി വേണുഗോപാല് വ്യക്തമാക്കി.

The Incident
N. Subrahmanian, a member of the KPCC Political Affairs Committee, was picked up by the Chevayur police at around 8:00 AM on Saturday. The police registered a case suo motu under various sections, including 'incitement to riot,' for his post which questioned: "What could be the reason for such a deep bond between Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Unnikrishnan Potti?"
High-Voltage Drama at Residence
According to reports, the police initially arrived at his house to record a statement. However, following a phone call from higher authorities, they cut the process short and took him into custody. Subrahmanian stated that the officers did not even allow him to attend to basic morning routines and used force to detain him. During the process, he reportedly suffered physical discomfort and had to be briefly admitted to a hospital.
Subrahmanian’s Defense
Subrahmanian maintained that the photo is authentic and was captured from a video released by the Chief Minister’s own office during an ambulance inauguration ceremony.
"BJP State President Rajeev Chandrasekhar shared the same image, yet no case has been filed against him. I am happy to go to jail to stand by the truth," he told the media.
Congress Leadership Reacts
The Congress party has slammed the move as politically motivated.
DCC President K. Praveenkumar: He termed the police action "undemocratic," noting that such harsh measures were unnecessary for a case involving bailable offenses.
AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal: Venugopal accused the State Home Department of being a "carbon copy of the Central Government."
"Is Subrahmanian a murder convict to have his house surrounded and be arrested like this? He wasn't in hiding," Venugopal asked.
He also challenged the Chief Minister to clarify a new photo surfacing of Minister Kadakampally Surendran with Unnikrishnan Potti. "Do you think that photo is AI-generated too? Law should be the same for everyone. You cannot hide the gold smuggling scandal by intimidating us with arrests," he added.
Current Status
Indications suggest that the police will proceed with a formal arrest after further interrogation. The Congress party maintains that this is a blatant double standard, as other leaders who shared the same content remain untouched.
