ന്യൂഡല്‍ഹി: ഡല്‍ഹി വിമാനത്താവളത്തില്‍ വച്ച് യാത്രക്കാരനെ മര്‍ദ്ദിച്ച എയര്‍ ഇന്ത്യ എക്‌സ്പ്രസ് പൈലറ്റ് ക്യാപ്റ്റന്‍ വീരേന്ദര്‍ സെജ്വാള്‍ തന്റെ ഭാഗം വ്യക്തമാക്കി രംഗത്തെത്തി. ഒരു നിയമ സ്ഥാപനം വഴിയാണ് അദ്ദേഹം പ്രസ്താവന പുറത്തിറക്കിയത്.

'സ്റ്റാഫ് അംഗങ്ങള്‍ എന്റെ മുന്നിലൂടെ ക്യൂ തെറ്റിച്ചു കയറുകയായിരുന്നു. ഇത് ചോദ്യം ചെയ്തപ്പോള്‍, അതേപോലെ ക്യൂ തെറ്റിച്ചു വന്ന ക്യാപ്റ്റന്‍ വീരേന്ദര്‍, എനിക്ക് അറിവില്ലേ എന്ന് ചോദിക്കുകയും ഇത് സ്റ്റാഫ് എന്‍ട്രിയാണെന്ന് അറിയില്ലേ എന്ന് പരിഹസിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. തുടര്‍ന്ന് തര്‍ക്കമായി,' അങ്കിത് ദിവാന്‍ എക്‌സ് പ്ലാറ്റ്ഫോമില്‍ കുറിച്ചു. പൈലറ്റ് തന്നെ മര്‍ദ്ദിച്ചുവെന്നും തന്റെ വസ്ത്രത്തില്‍ പറ്റിയിരിക്കുന്നത് സ്വന്തം രക്തമാണെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം പറയുന്നു.

എന്നാല്‍, അങ്കിത് ദിവാന്‍ ആണ് ആദ്യം പ്രകോപനമില്ലാതെ ചീത്തവിളിച്ചതെന്ന് പൈലറ്റിന്റെ പ്രസ്താവനയില്‍ പറയുന്നു. 'തര്‍ക്കം ശാരീരികമായ ഏറ്റുമുട്ടലിലേക്ക് നീങ്ങുകയും ക്യാപ്റ്റന്‍ സെജ്വാളിനും പരിക്കേല്‍ക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. സി.ഐ.എസ്.എഫ് ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥര്‍ ഇടപെട്ട് ദിവാന്റെ മോശം പെരുമാറ്റം തടയാന്‍ ശ്രമിച്ചു,' പ്രസ്താവന അവകാശപ്പെടുന്നു.

നിയമനടപടികളുമായി മുന്നോട്ടു പോകില്ലെന്ന് താന്‍ സമ്മതപത്രം എഴുതി നല്‍കിയത് നിര്‍ബന്ധത്തിന് വഴങ്ങിയാണെന്ന ദിവാന്റെ ആരോപണവും പൈലറ്റ് നിഷേധിച്ചു. രണ്ട് കൂട്ടരും സ്വമേധയാ ആണ് ഒപ്പിട്ടതെന്നും സി.ഐ.എസ്.എഫ് ഇതിന് സാക്ഷിയാണെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു.

സംഭവത്തെത്തുടര്‍ന്ന് എയര്‍ ഇന്ത്യ എക്‌സ്പ്രസ് ഈ പെരുമാറ്റത്തെ അപലപിക്കുകയും പൈലറ്റിനെ ഔദ്യോഗിക ചുമതലകളില്‍ നിന്ന് അടിയന്തരമായി നീക്കം ചെയ്യുകയും ചെയ്തു. അന്വേഷണ റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട് വരുന്നതുവരെ അദ്ദേഹം ജോലിയില്‍ പ്രവേശിക്കില്ലെന്നും കമ്പനി അറിയിച്ചു.

Background of the Incident

The passenger, Ankit Dewan, alleged that Captain Sejwal brutally assaulted him at Delhi Airport's Terminal 1. According to Dewan’s complaint, airport staff had directed him to use the staff queue because he was with his four-month-old baby in a stroller, but Sejwal, who was present there, blocked him.

"Staff members were jumping the queue in front of me. When I questioned this, Captain Virender, who was also jumping the queue, asked if I was uneducated and mocked me by asking if I didn't know it was a staff entry. This led to an argument," Ankit Dewan wrote on the X platform. He further claimed that the pilot assaulted him and that the blood on his clothes was his own.

Counter-Claims by the Pilot

However, the pilot’s statement claims that it was Ankit Dewan who initiated the verbal abuse without provocation. "The dispute escalated into a physical confrontation, and Captain Sejwal also sustained injuries. CISF officials intervened to try and stop Mr. Dewan's misconduct," the statement claims.

The pilot also denied Dewan's allegation that he was forced to sign a statement agreeing not to pursue legal action. He stated that both parties signed the document voluntarily and that the CISF witnessed this.

Air India Express’s Stand

Following the incident, Air India Express condemned the behavior and immediately removed the pilot from official duties. The company stated that he would not return to duty until the investigation report is completed.
