ആലപ്പുഴയിലെയും കൊച്ചിയിലെയും പ്രമുഖ വസ്ത്രവ്യാപാര സ്ഥാപനമായ 'ഇഹ ഡിസൈന്‍സിന്റെ' ഉടമകളുടെ മകനും രാജഗിരി കോളേജ് വിദ്യാര്‍ത്ഥിയുമായ സുഹൈല്‍ സജീവ് എന്ന 19 കാരനാണ്  മദ്യലഹരിയില്‍ ഈ തീരാദുരന്തം തീര്‍ത്തത്.

മകന്‍ കോളേജില്‍ പോകാന്‍ വേണ്ടി ഏറെ ആഗ്രഹിച്ചു വാങ്ങിയ 'മിനി കൂപ്പര്‍' കാറാണ് മൂന്ന് ജീവനുകളെ കവര്‍ന്നെടുത്തത്. ഡിസംബറിലെ പിറന്നാളിന് വാഹനം നല്‍കാന്‍ പറ്റിയില്ലെങ്കിലും, മകനോടുള്ള സ്നേഹംകൊണ്ട് ആ അമ്മ സമ്മാനിച്ച ആഡംബര കാര്‍ അധികം വൈകാതെ ഒരു നാടിനെ മുഴുവന്‍ കണ്ണീരിലാഴ്ത്തിയ മരണ വാഹനമായി മാറി. 'ആള് ഭയങ്കര ബോഡി ബില്‍ഡറാണ്, മിസ്റ്റര്‍ കേരള മത്സരത്തിന് ഇറങ്ങാന്‍ പോകുന്നയാളാണ്' എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞ് അമ്മ സമൂഹമാധ്യമങ്ങളില്‍ പങ്കുവച്ച ആ വീഡിയോ, ഇന്ന് എല്ലാവരുടെയും ഹൃദയം തകര്‍ക്കുന്നതായി മാറിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

ഞായറാഴ്ച പുലര്‍ച്ചെ 1:45-നായായിരുന്നു ആ ദുരന്തം. എയര്‍പോര്‍ട്ട് റോഡില്‍ സ്‌കൂട്ടറില്‍ സഞ്ചരിക്കുകയായിരുന്ന ഗോപിക, ദേവിക, ഇയാസ് എന്നിവരുടെ പിന്നിലേക്ക് മദ്യലഹരിയില്‍ അമിതവേഗത പാഞ്ഞെത്തിയ ആഡംബര കാര്‍ ഇടിച്ചുകയറുകയായിരുന്നു. ശക്തമായ ആഘാതത്തില്‍ റോഡിലേക്ക് തെറിച്ചുവീണ മൂവരുടെയും തലയ്‌ക്കേറ്റ ഗുരുതര പരിക്കുകളാണ് അവരുടെ ജീവനെടുത്തത്. സംഭവസ്ഥലത്തുണ്ടായിരുന്ന ഒരു വനിതാ ഡോക്ടര്‍ പള്‍സ് നോക്കി മരണം സ്ഥിരീകരിക്കുമ്പോള്‍, തകര്‍ന്നു തരിപ്പണമായ കാറിന്റെ ബോണറ്റും മുന്‍വശത്തെ ഗ്ലാസും ആ ക്രൂരതയുടെ വ്യാപ്തി വിളിച്ചോതുന്നുണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

'എന്റെ വാപ്പ നോക്കിക്കോളും' എന്ന ക്രൂരമായ ധാര്‍ഷ്ട്യം

അപകടത്തിന് പിന്നാലെ കാറിലുണ്ടായിരുന്നവര്‍ നാട്ടുകാരോട് കാണിച്ച പെരുമാറ്റം മനുഷ്യത്വമുള്ള ആരുടെയും ഉള്ളുപൊള്ളിക്കുന്നതായിരുന്നു. രക്തത്തില്‍ കുളിച്ചു കിടക്കുന്ന മനുഷ്യരെ നോക്കി, 'എയര്‍പോര്‍ട്ട് റോഡല്ലേ, വേഗത്തില്‍ ഓടിച്ചാല്‍ എന്താ, എന്റെ അപ്പ നോക്കിക്കോളും' എന്ന് കോടീശ്വരന്റെ ലാളനയില്‍ വളര്‍ന്ന ആ കുട്ടി വെല്ലുവിളിച്ചു. എന്നാല്‍ തടഞ്ഞുവച്ച നാട്ടുകാരുടെയും പൊലീസിന്റെയും കണ്‍മുന്നില്‍ ആ അഹങ്കാരം അധികനേരം നീണ്ടുനിന്നില്ല.

നരഹത്യയ്ക്ക് കേസും കര്‍ശന നടപടിയും

വൈദ്യപരിശോധനയില്‍ പ്രതി മദ്യപിച്ചതായി വ്യക്തമായിട്ടുണ്ട്. നിയമപ്രകാരം മദ്യം വാങ്ങാനും കഴിക്കാനുമുള്ള കുറഞ്ഞ പ്രായം 23 വയസ്സ് ആയിരിക്കെ, 19 മാത്രം പ്രായമുള്ള പ്രതിക്ക് മദ്യം വിളമ്പിയ ബാറുകള്‍ക്കെതിരെ എക്സൈസ് മന്ത്രി കര്‍ശന നടപടിക്ക് ഉത്തരവിട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്. ശനിയാഴ്ച രാത്രി മുതല്‍ മൂന്ന് വ്യത്യസ്ത ബാറുകളില്‍ കയറി മദ്യം കഴിച്ചതിന്റെ ദൃശ്യങ്ങള്‍ പ്രതിയുടെ മൊബൈല്‍ ഫോണില്‍ നിന്നു പൊലീസ് കണ്ടെത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. സംഭവത്തില്‍ പ്രതിക്കെതിരെ നരഹത്യയ്ക്കാണ് പൊലീസ് കേസെടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നത്.

Suhaيل Sajeev, a 19-year-old college student at Rajagiri College and the son of the owners of 'Iha Designs', a prominent textile business establishment in Alappuzha and Kochi, brought about this devastating tragedy while under the influence of alcohol.

The luxury 'Mini Cooper' car, which the son had eagerly desired and his mother bought for him so he could commute to college, turned into a death vehicle that left an entire community in tears before long. Though the vehicle could not be presented for his birthday in December, driven by her love for her son, the mother had gifted him the luxury car. The video she shared on social media, proclaiming, "He is a terrific bodybuilder, someone going to step into the Mr. Kerala competition," has today become something that breaks everyone's heart.

The tragedy struck at 1:45 in the morning on Sunday. The luxury car, speeding in a drunken stupor, plowed from behind into Gopika, Devika, and Iyas who were traveling on a scooter along the airport road. The severe impacts to their heads as the three were flung onto the road claimed their lives. While a woman doctor present at the scene checked their pulses and confirmed death, the crushed, mangled bonnet and front windshield of the car bore stark testimony to the brutality of the act.

The Cruel Arrogance of "My Father Will Take Care of It"

The behavior of those inside the car toward the locals right after the accident was enough to scorch the soul of anyone with a shred of humanity. Looking at human beings lying in pools of blood, the youth—raised in the coddling of a millionaire—defied them, saying, "Isn't this the airport road? What if I drove fast, my father will take care of it." However, before the eyes of the detained locals and the police, that arrogance did not last long.

Case of Culpable Homicide and Strict Action

Medical examinations have confirmed that the accused was intoxicated. With the legal minimum age to purchase and consume alcohol set at 23, the Excise Minister has ordered stern action against the bars that served alcohol to the 19-year-old accused. Police recovered footage from the accused's mobile phone showing him visiting and consuming alcohol at three different bars starting Saturday night. Police have registered a case of culpable homicide against the accused.

Arrogance Hiding Its Face Before the Media

Although the accused was under the delusion that he could easily escape using the strength of money and influence, the stringent intervention of the Kerala Police uprooted that arrogance entirely. When brought to the Angamaly Taluk Hospital for a medical examination, amid protests from locals, the police provided heavy security and led the accused past media cameras in handcuffs. Shamed and humiliated, shielding his face, that arrogant youth bowing his head before the law provided immense relief to a state pleading for justice.

This exemplary action serves as a reminder that before the law, there is no distinction between the rich and the poor, and that if a mistake is made, cuffs will fall regardless of whose millionaire son it is.
