Yemen's Houthis have released video footage showing the downing of a Saudi Arabian F-15 fighter jet and its burning wreckage. The four-minute video, which captures scenes from the targeting of the aircraft, shows night footage of a large fire and rising smoke immediately after the jet crashed.

On Wednesday, Yemen's Houthis claimed that they had successfully shot down the Saudi fighter jet while it was conducting "hostile military operations." They stated that the attack was carried out using a locally manufactured air-to-air missile.
"With the help of Allah, the Yemeni Armed Forces shot down a Saudi F-15 fighter jet that was carrying out hostile operations in support of military movements in the airspace of Marib Governorate," Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree announced on social media. He also alleged that Saudi Arabia had carried out around 450 airstrikes.
The video released by the Houthis shows footage of the destroyed Saudi F-15 fighter jet and its debris in Marib Governorate. Other parts of the video, shot during the day, show charred and shattered metal debris scattered across a rocky desert area. This includes a large section bearing insignia similar to those on Saudi aircraft.
The footage also shows armed men carrying rifles standing outside the city, as well as Houthi fighters speeding through the desert in pickup trucks. "We are now moving to intercept the enemy," a fighter can be heard saying.
Meanwhile, the Saudi-led coalition accused Houthi rebels on Wednesday of launching an attack targeting Islam's holiest city, Mecca. This has sparked widespread outrage across the Muslim world and further escalated tensions in the region.
"Saudi Air Force intercepted and destroyed a drone sent by Houthi militants before it could enter Mecca's restricted airspace," coalition spokesman Turki al-Malki announced on X.
Al-Malki called it an "act of terrorism" and emphasized that the safety of the Holy Mosques and pilgrims is a "red line." He added that this was the second attempt targeting Mecca following a ballistic missile attack in July 2017.
However, the Houthis rejected Saudi Arabia's claim, describing the accusation as mere "fabricated stories and lies."
