പെൺകുട്ടിയും പ്രതികളും പരസ്പരം പരിചയക്കാരായിരുന്നുവെന്നും, കൃത്യം നടക്കുന്ന സമയത്ത് അവൾ ഇവർക്കൊപ്പമാണ് ഒരു ടെമ്പോ വാഹനത്തിൽ സഞ്ചരിച്ചിരുന്നതെന്നും പോലീസ് വ്യക്തമാക്കി.
പെൺകുട്ടിയെ ലൈംഗികമായി പീഡിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിന് മുൻപ് ഇവർ ടെമ്പോയ്ക്കുള്ളിൽ വെച്ച് ഒരുമിച്ച് മദ്യപിച്ചിരുന്നു. പിന്നീട് അവളെ കുത്തിക്കൊലപ്പെടുത്തി മൃതദേഹം ഉപേക്ഷിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.
വടക്കുപടിഞ്ഞാറൻ ഡൽഹിയിലെ സ്വരൂപ് നഗർ പ്രദേശത്ത് കുഷക് റോഡിലുള്ള ജൈപാൽ റാണയുടെ മൈതാനത്തിന് സമീപത്തുനിന്നാണ് സെപ്റ്റംബർ 13-ന് പെൺകുട്ടിയുടെ അഴുകിയ മൃതദേഹം കണ്ടെത്തിയത്.
മൃതദേഹത്തിന്റെ ചില ഭാഗങ്ങൾ തെരുവ് നായ്ക്കൾ തിന്നിരുന്നുവെന്നും, ഒരു കൈ ശരീരത്തിൽ നിന്നും വേർപെട്ട നിലയിലായിരുന്നുവെന്നും പോലീസ് കൂട്ടിച്ചേർത്തു.

തുടർന്ന് സെപ്റ്റംബർ 15, 16 തീയതികളിൽ രാത്രി മുഴുവൻ നീണ്ടുനിന്ന തെരച്ചിലിനൊടുവിൽ സംശയാസ്പദമായ ആ ടെമ്പോ കണ്ടെത്തുകയും, വാഹനത്തിന്റെ ഡ്രൈവറെ തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞ് ചോദ്യം ചെയ്യുകയും ചെയ്തു.
ഈ അന്വേഷണമാണ് കുറ്റകൃത്യത്തിൽ പങ്കാളികളായ നാല് പേരെ (മൂന്ന് പ്രായപൂർത്തിയാകാത്തവർ ഉൾപ്പെടെ) പിടികൂടുന്നതിലേക്ക് നയിച്ചത്.
പിടിയിലായവരിൽ മുതിർന്ന പ്രതിയായ ശിവം എന്ന സുദാമ എന്ന ചുച്ചു, ഖഡ്ഡ കോളനിയിലെ താമസക്കാരനാണെന്നും മറ്റ് മൂന്ന് പേർ 16 ഉം 17 ഉം വയസ്സുള്ളവരാണെന്നും പോലീസ് വ്യക്തമാക്കി.
കൃത്യത്തിന് ഉപയോഗിച്ചുവെന്ന് സംശയിക്കുന്ന രണ്ട് കത്തികളും, പ്രതികൾ ധരിച്ചിരുന്ന വസ്ത്രങ്ങളും, ടെമ്പോയും പോലീസ് കണ്ടെടുത്തു.

Following the crime, the accused abandoned the girl's body in an open field, where stray dogs fed on parts of her remains.
According to the police, the decomposed body of the girl was found on September 13, days after the rape and murder took place. The body was completely decomposed beyond recognition.
Police stated that the victim and the accused were known to each other, and at the time of the incident, she was traveling with them in a tempo vehicle. Before sexually assaulting her, they drank alcohol together inside the tempo. They later stabbed her to death and abandoned her body.
The decomposed body was recovered on September 13 near Jaipal Rana's field on Kushak Road in the Swaroop Nagar area of northwest Delhi.
Police added that parts of the body had been eaten by stray dogs, and one of the arms was detached from the torso.
The girl's family had not officially reported her missing to the police. They stated that she frequently left home and would return after a few days.
A case has been registered in connection with the incident under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the POCSO Act.
Since there were no eyewitnesses at the scene and no initial information about the culprits was available, police teams examined CCTV footage from more than 50 cameras in the area and surrounding lanes.
During the inspection, a tempo was spotted passing near the crime scene at the crucial time. Although the vehicle's registration number was unclear due to darkness, police traced its route using multiple CCTV locations.
Following overnight searches on September 15 and 16, the suspicious tempo was located, and its driver was identified and questioned.
This investigation led to the apprehension of the four individuals involved in the crime, including three minors.
Police identified the adult accused as Shivam, alias Sudama, alias Chuchu, a resident of Khadda Colony, while the other three are 16 and 17 years old.
Police have recovered two knives suspected to have been used in the crime, the clothes worn by the accused, and the tempo.
Authorities stated that further investigations are underway to clarify the details of the incident, determine the specific role of each arrested individual, and examine forensic evidence.
