കോഴിക്കോട് : വടകരയില്‍ പൊലീസ് പിടിയിലായ അദ്ധ്യാപികമാരായ കീര്‍ത്തനയും കാവ്യയും വലിയൊരു  മയക്കുമരുന്നു മാഫിയയിലെ കണ്ണികളാണെന്നു പൊലീസ്. ലഹരിമരുന്ന് മാഫിയക്കെതിരെ ശക്തമായി തുടരുന്ന 'ഓപ്പറേഷന്‍ തൂഫാന്‍' വഴിയാണ് വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ മേഖലയെപ്പോലും ഞെട്ടിച്ച വലിയൊരു എം.ഡി.എം.എ ശൃംഖലയുടെ ചുരുളഴിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നത്.

ലഹരിവില്‍പന നടത്തുന്ന സംഘങ്ങളെയും അവരുടെ പ്രധാന വിതരണക്കാരെയും ലക്ഷ്യമിട്ട് വടകര ഡെപ്യൂട്ടി പൊലീസ് സൂപ്രണ്ടിന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തിലാണ് ഓപ്പറേഷന്‍ തൂഫാന്‍ ആസൂത്രണം ചെയ്തത്.

സ്‌കൂള്‍ വിദ്യാര്‍ഥികള്‍ക്കും യുവാക്കള്‍ക്കും ലഹരി എത്തിച്ചുനല്‍കിയിരുന്ന സംഘത്തിലെ പ്രധാനിയായ കീര്‍ത്തന എന്ന താല്‍ക്കാലിക അധ്യാപികയെ വടകര പൊലീസ് മുന്‍പ് അറസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്തിരുന്നു. കീര്‍ത്തനയെ കസ്റ്റഡിയില്‍ വാങ്ങി വിശദമായി ചോദ്യം ചെയ്തപ്പോഴാണ് കൊയിലാണ്ടി-പേരാമ്പ്ര ബി.ആര്‍.സിയിലെ സ്‌പെഷ്യല്‍ എഡ്യൂക്കേറ്ററായ കൂരാച്ചുണ്ട് സ്വദേശിനി കാവ്യയുടെ പങ്ക് വ്യക്തമാകുന്നത്. തുടര്‍ന്നുള്ള മിന്നല്‍ പരിശോധനയിലാണ് കാവ്യയെ വടകര പൊലീസ് പിടികൂടിയത്.

വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ സ്ഥാപനങ്ങള്‍ കേന്ദ്രീകരിച്ചും യുവാക്കള്‍ക്കിടയിലും വിതരണം നടത്തുന്നതിനായി ശാസ്ത്രീയവും അതീവ രഹസ്യവുമായ രീതികളാണ് ഇവര്‍ പിന്തുടര്‍ന്നിരുന്നത്. ലഹരി ആവശ്യപ്പെടുന്നവരില്‍ നിന്ന് പ്രധാനമായും ഗൂഗിള്‍ പേ അല്ലെങ്കില്‍ നേരിട്ടുള്ള ബാങ്ക് ട്രാന്‍സ്ഫര്‍ വഴിയാണ് പണം ഈടാക്കിയിരുന്നത്.

സൈക്കോളജിയില്‍ ബിരുദാനന്തര ബിരുദമുള്ള കാവ്യ പെരാമ്പ്ര ബ്ലോക്ക് റിസോഴ്‌സ് സെന്ററിന്  കീഴിലുള്ള ചെറുവാളൂര്‍ ഗവ. എല്‍.പി സ്‌കൂളിലെ ഓട്ടിസം സെന്ററില്‍ താല്‍ക്കാലിക സ്‌പെഷ്യല്‍ എജ്യുക്കേറ്ററാണ്. ആഴ്ചയില്‍ മൂന്ന് ദിവസം അടിസ്ഥാനത്തിലുള്ള താല്‍ക്കാലിക ജോലിയാണിത്.

2016 മുതല്‍ കോഴിക്കോട് ജില്ലയിലെ കുന്നുമ്മല്‍, പന്തലായനി, പെരാമ്പ്ര തുടങ്ങിയ വിവിധ ബി.ആര്‍.സികളില്‍ സ്‌പെഷ്യല്‍ എജ്യുക്കേറ്ററായി ജോലി ചെയ്തു വരുന്നു. കൃത്യമായി ജോലിക്ക് ഹാജരാകാത്തതിനെ തുടര്‍ന്ന് മുന്‍പ് കാരണം കാണിക്കല്‍ നോട്ടീസ് ലഭിച്ചിരുന്നു. കുടുംബപ്രശ്‌നങ്ങളും വിവാഹമോചന കേസും മൂലമാണ് എത്താതിരുന്നത് എന്നായിരുന്നു നല്‍കിയ വിശദീകരണം.

മുന്‍പ് കാവ്യയ്ക്കു വാഹനാപകടത്തില്‍ ഗുരുതരമായി പരിക്കേറ്റിരുന്നു. അന്ന് അദ്ധ്യാപകരും മറ്റു സഹപ്രവര്‍ത്തകരും പിരിവെടുത്താണ് ചികിത്സയ്ക്കു സഹായിച്ചിരുന്നത്. അടുത്തിടെ കാവ്യ ആഡംബര കാര്‍ വാങ്ങിയിരുന്നു. ഇതിന്റെ സാമ്പത്തിക സ്രോതസ് സഹപ്രവര്‍ത്തകരില്‍ സംശയം ജനിപ്പിച്ചിരുന്നു. കാവ്യയെ സര്‍വീസില്‍ നിന്ന് പുറത്താക്കാനുള്ള നടപടികള്‍ സമഗ്ര ശിക്ഷാ കേരള ആരംഭിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.

ഇരുവരുടെയും ബാങ്ക് അക്കൗണ്ടുകള്‍ പരിശോധിച്ച അന്വേഷണസംഘത്തിന് ലക്ഷക്കണക്കിന് രൂപയുടെ ലഹരി ഇടപാടുകള്‍ നടന്നതായി തെളിവ് ലഭിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. അധ്യാപന മേഖലയുടെ മറവില്‍ നടന്ന ഈ ലഹരിവില്‍പനയെ അതീവ ഗൗരവത്തോടെയാണ് പൊലീസ് വീക്ഷിക്കുന്നത്.

 Police have revealed that Keerthana and Kavya, the schoolteachers arrested in Vadakara, were key operatives in a major drug syndicate. The unraveling of this extensive MDMA network—which has sent shockwaves through the education sector—came as a result of "Operation Thoofan," an ongoing police crackdown against drug cartels.

Operation Thoofan was launched under the leadership of the Vadakara Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) to target drug trafficking networks and their primary distributors.

Earlier, Vadakara police had arrested Keerthana, a temporary teacher who was a key figure in supplying narcotics to school students and local youth. Upon taking Keerthana into custody and conducting a detailed interrogation, investigators uncovered the direct involvement of Kavya, a native of Koorachundu and a Special Educator attached to the Koyilandy-Perambra Block Resource Centre (BRC). Following a swift police raid, Kavya was subsequently taken into custody by Vadakara Police.

Modus Operandi & Digital Transactions

The accused utilized highly systematic and secretive methods to distribute narcotics across educational institutions and among young buyers. Payment was collected primarily via Google Pay or direct bank transfers.

Once the funds hit their accounts, the teachers would send the GPS locations of deserted spots where the drugs were cached using WhatsApp or other encrypted messaging applications. Direct face-to-face meetings were entirely avoided to evade detection.

Profile & Background of the Accused

Kavya, who holds a Master's degree in Psychology, worked as a temporary Special Educator at the Autism Centre attached to Cheruvaloor Govt. LP School under the Perambra BRC. This was a temporary position requiring her to work three days a week.

Since 2016, she had served as a Special Educator across various BRCs in Kozhikode district, including Kunnummal, Panthalayani, and Perambra. She had previously been issued show-cause notices for irregular attendance, which she attributed to personal family issues and ongoing divorce proceedings.

Colleagues recalled that Kavya had previously suffered severe injuries in a road accident, during which fellow teachers and staff raised funds to assist with her medical expenses. However, her recent purchase of a luxury car had raised suspicions among her colleagues regarding her financial sources. Samagra Shiksha Kerala has initiated formal proceedings to terminate Kavya from service.

Ongoing Investigation & Next Steps

Financial audits of both teachers' bank accounts revealed evidence of drug transactions amounting to lakhs of rupees. Police are viewing the execution of drug sales under the cover of the teaching profession with extreme gravity.

Investigators are probing whether more temporary teachers or staff members associated with the BRC or other educational institutions are linked to the network.

A detailed forensic and technical investigation centered on Kavya is underway to ascertain whether the MDMA supply originated from Bengaluru or Goa, or was procured through regional wholesale distributors.

Additionally, the anti-narcotics squad has initiated legal proceedings to freeze and confiscate the proceeds of crime and funds accumulated across their bank accounts. Police have confirmed that drives under Operation Thoofan will be intensified across Vadakara, Koyilandy, and Perambra in the coming days.
