ദുബായ്: ഹോര്‍മുസ് കടലിടുക്കിനെ ചൊല്ലി ഗള്‍ഫ് മേഖലയില്‍ അമേരിക്കയും ഇറാനും തമ്മിലുള്ള ഏറ്റുമുട്ടല്‍ വീണ്ടും രൂക്ഷമായി. കുറച്ചുമാസങ്ങളായി തുടര്‍ന്നുവന്ന നയതന്ത്ര ചര്‍ച്ചകള്‍ പൂര്‍ണ്ണമായും പരാജയപ്പെടുന്ന രീതിയിലാണ് നിലവിലെ യുദ്ധസമാനമായ സാഹചര്യം. സംഘര്‍ഷം വ്യാപിപ്പിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് ജോര്‍ദാനിലെ അമേരിക്കന്‍ താവളത്തിനു നേരേയും ഇറാന്‍ ആക്രമണം നടത്തി.

ജോര്‍ദാനിലെ പ്രിന്‍സ് ഹസന്‍ എയര്‍ ബേസിനു നേരെ തങ്ങള്‍ മിസൈലുകളും ഡ്രോണുകളും ഉപയോഗിച്ച് ആക്രമണം നടത്തിയതായി ഇറാന്റെ ഇസ്ലാമിക് റവല്യൂഷണറി ഗാര്‍ഡ് കോര്‍ തിങ്കളാഴ്ച അറിയിച്ചു. ആക്രമണത്തില്‍ എയര്‍ ബേസിലെ നിരവധി ഇന്ധന സംഭരണശാലകള്‍ക്കും വെടിമരുന്ന് സൂക്ഷിപ്പുകേന്ദ്രങ്ങള്‍ക്കും തീപിടിച്ചതായും അവര്‍ അവകാശപ്പെട്ടു. ഇറാന്റെ തീരദേശ സൈനിക താവളങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് നേരെ അമേരിക്ക നടത്തിയ ആക്രമണങ്ങള്‍ക്കുള്ള തിരിച്ചടിയുടെ ഒന്നാം ഘട്ടമാണ് ഇതെന്ന് ഐആര്‍ജിസി പ്രസ്താവനയില്‍ വ്യക്തമാക്കി. സംഭവത്തെ തുടര്‍ന്ന് ഇറാന്റെ നയതന്ത്ര പ്രതിനിധിയെ വിളിച്ചുവരുത്തി ജോര്‍ജാന്‍ പ്രതിഷേധം അറിയിച്ചു.

ഹോര്‍മുസ് കടലിടുക്കില്‍ വെച്ച് തങ്ങളുടെ നാവികസേന രണ്ട് കപ്പലുകള്‍ തടഞ്ഞതിന് പിന്നാലെയാണ് അമേരിക്ക പ്രകോപനമില്ലാതെ ആക്രമണം നടത്തിയതെന്ന് ഐആര്‍ജിസി പറഞ്ഞു. ഈ കപ്പലുകള്‍ തങ്ങളുടെ ട്രാക്കിംഗ് സംവിധാനങ്ങള്‍ ഓഫ് ചെയ്യുകയും, നിയമവിരുദ്ധമായി സഞ്ചരിക്കുകയും, മേഖലയിലെ സുരക്ഷിതമായ കപ്പല്‍ ഗതാഗതത്തിന് ഭീഷണിയുയര്‍ത്തുകയും ചെയ്തതിനാലാണ് തടഞ്ഞതെന്നാണ് ഇറാന്റെ ആരോപണം. തങ്ങളുടെ പ്രതികാര നടപടികള്‍ ഇപ്പോഴും തുടരുകയാണെന്നും ഇതിന്റെ കൂടുതല്‍ വിവരങ്ങള്‍ വരും ദിവസങ്ങളില്‍ പുറത്തുവിടുമെന്നും ഐആര്‍ജിസി കൂട്ടിച്ചേര്‍ത്തു.

യുഎസ്-ഇറാന്‍ സൈന്യങ്ങള്‍ തമ്മില്‍ തിരിച്ചും മറിച്ചും നടത്തുന്ന ആക്രമണങ്ങളെത്തുടര്‍ന്ന് കഴിഞ്ഞ കുറച്ചുദിവസങ്ങളായി ഈ മേഖലയില്‍ കനത്ത സംഘര്‍ഷാവസ്ഥയാണ് നിലനില്‍ക്കുന്നത്. തങ്ങളുടെ സൈനിക കേന്ദ്രങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് നേരെ അമേരിക്ക നടത്തിയ ആക്രമണങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് പ്രതികാരമായി ഞായറാഴ്ച കുവൈറ്റ്, ബഹ്‌റൈന്‍, ഖത്തര്‍, ജോര്‍ദാന്‍, ഒമാന്‍ എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിലെ യുഎസ് താവളങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് നേരെ ആക്രമണം നടത്തിയതായി ഇറാന്‍ നേരത്തെ വ്യക്തമാക്കിയിരുന്നു.

എന്നാല്‍, ഹോര്‍മുസ് കടലിടുക്കിലൂടെയുള്ള അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര കപ്പല്‍ ഗതാഗതത്തിന് നേരെ ഇറാന്റെ റവല്യൂഷണറി ഗാര്‍ഡ്‌സ് ആക്രമണം നടത്തിയെന്ന് ആരോപിച്ചാണ് അമേരിക്കന്‍ സെന്‍ട്രല്‍ കമാന്‍ഡ് ശക്തമായ വ്യോമാക്രമണം തുടങ്ങിയത്.

ഇറാന്റെ വ്യോമ പ്രതിരോധ സംവിധാനങ്ങള്‍, തീരദേശ റഡാര്‍ കേന്ദ്രങ്ങള്‍, മിസൈല്‍-ഡ്രോണ്‍ കേന്ദ്രങ്ങള്‍, ചെറിയ സൈനിക ബോട്ടുകള്‍ എന്നിവ ലക്ഷ്യമിട്ടായിരുന്നു യുഎസ് ആക്രമണം. ഇതാദ്യമായി വണ്‍-വേ അറ്റാക്ക് ഏരിയല്‍ ഡ്രോണുകളും കടലില്‍ ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്ന വണ്‍-വേ അറ്റാക്ക് സീ ഡ്രോണുകളും അമേരിക്ക ഈ യുദ്ധത്തില്‍ പ്രയോഗിച്ചു.

തെക്കുപടിഞ്ഞാറന്‍ ഇറാനിലെ മഹ്ഷഹറിലുള്ള ഒരു കാര്‍ഷിക ജലപമ്പിങ് സ്റ്റേഷന് നേരെയുണ്ടായ അമേരിക്കന്‍ ആക്രമണത്തില്‍ ഒരാള്‍ കൊല്ലപ്പെടുകയും നാല് പേര്‍ക്ക് പരിക്കേല്‍ക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.

അമേരിക്കന്‍ ആക്രമണത്തിന് മറുപടിയായി മിഡില്‍ ഈസ്റ്റിലെ വിവിധ രാജ്യങ്ങളില്‍ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്ന യുഎസ് സൈനിക താവളങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് നേരെ ഇറാന്‍ പരമ്പരയായി ഡ്രോണ്‍, മിസൈല്‍ ആക്രമണങ്ങള്‍ നടത്തി. ബഹ്‌റൈന്‍, കുവൈറ്റ്, ഖത്തര്‍, ജോര്‍ദാന്‍, ഒമാന്‍ എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിലെ യുഎസ് താവളങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് നേരെയാണ് ഇറാന്‍ തിരിച്ചടിച്ചത്.

ജോര്‍ദാനിലെ പ്രിന്‍സ് ഹസന്‍ എയര്‍ ബേസ്, കുവൈറ്റിലെ അലി അല്‍ സലേം എയര്‍ ബേസ്, ബഹ്‌റൈനിലെ യുഎസ് സൈനിക ഡ്രോണ്‍ കമാന്‍ഡ് സെന്റര്‍ എന്നിവയ്ക്ക് നേരെ ആക്രമണമുണ്ടായതായി ഇറാന്റെ ഔദ്യോഗിക വാര്‍ത്താ ഏജന്‍സിയായ ഇര്‍ന സ്ഥിരീകരിച്ചു.

ഇറാന്റെ മിസൈല്‍ ആക്രമണ ഭീഷണിയെത്തുടര്‍ന്ന് ബഹ്‌റൈനില്‍ ജനങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ജാഗ്രതാ നിര്‍ദ്ദേശം നല്‍കിക്കൊണ്ട് വ്യോമാക്രമണ സൈറണുകള്‍ മുഴങ്ങി. 

മേഖലയിലെ കപ്പല്‍ ഗതാഗതത്തിന്റെ പ്രധാന കേന്ദ്രമായ ഹോര്‍മുസ് കടലിടുക്ക് ഇറാന്‍ പൂര്‍ണ്ണമായും അടച്ചതായി പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചു. തങ്ങളുടെ അനുമതിയില്ലാതെ പ്രവേശിച്ച ചരക്കുകപ്പലിന് നേരെ ആക്രമണമുണ്ടായതിനെ തുടര്‍ന്നാണ് ഈ നടപടി. മേഖലയില്‍ പൂര്‍ണ്ണമായ സമാധാനവും സ്ഥിരതയും തിരിച്ചുവരുന്നതുവരെ കപ്പലുകളെ കടത്തിവിടില്ലെന്ന നിലപാടിലാണ് ഇറാന്‍.

The confrontation between the United States and Iran in the Gulf region over the Strait of Hormuz has intensified yet again. The current war-like situation indicates a complete breakdown of diplomatic negotiations that had been ongoing for the past few months. Expanding the scope of the conflict, Iran has now launched an attack on a US military base in Jordan.

Following Iran's announcement that it has closed the Strait of Hormuz, international oil prices recorded a sharp jump of nearly 5% today. Factoring in the conflict situation in the region, major global oil benchmarks registered a massive price hike right at the market opening.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Monday that it targeted the Prince Hassan Air Base in Jordan using missiles and drones. They claimed that the attack set fire to several fuel depots and ammunition storage facilities at the air base. In a statement, the IRGC specified that this strike marks the first phase of its retaliation against American attacks on Iranian coastal military bases. Following the incident, Jordan summoned the Iranian diplomatic envoy to register its strong protest.

The IRGC stated that the US launched its unprovoked attacks shortly after Iranian naval forces intercepted two ships in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran alleged that these vessels were detained because they had switched off their tracking systems, were traveling illegally, and posed a threat to safe maritime navigation in the region. The IRGC added that its retaliatory operations are still ongoing and that further details will be released in the coming days.

The region has been gripped by intense tensions over the past few days due to back-and-forth attacks between the US and Iranian militaries. Iran had previously stated on Sunday that it targeted US bases in Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Jordan, and Oman in retaliation for American strikes against Iranian sites.

However, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) initiated its heavy airstrikes based on allegations that Iran's Revolutionary Guards had attacked international shipping traffic flowing through the Strait of Hormuz.

The US strikes targeted Iranian air defense systems, coastal radar sites, missile and drone facilities, and small military boats. For the first time in this conflict, the US deployed one-way attack aerial drones and ocean-bound one-way attack sea drones.

An American strike on an agricultural water pumping station in Mahshahr, located in southwestern Iran, resulted in one death and left four others wounded.

In response to the American aggression, Iran launched a series of drone and missile strikes targeting US military installations operating across various Middle Eastern countries. Iran retaliated against US bases located in Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Jordan, and Oman.

Iran's official news agency, IRNA, confirmed that strikes were carried out against the Prince Hassan Air Base in Jordan, the Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait, and a US military drone command center in Bahrain. Following the threat of ongoing Iranian missile strikes, air raid sirens were sounded in Bahrain, urging residents to take shelter.

Iran has declared a complete closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global chokepoint for maritime shipping. This move followed an attack on a commercial cargo vessel that entered the area without authorization. Iran maintains the stance that shipping traffic will not be permitted through the strait until complete peace and stability are restored to the region.

Conversely, US President Donald Trump insists that the strategic waterway remains open.

This marks the most severe escalation since the conflict between the US-Israel alliance and Iran began on February 28. As news of the closure of the Strait of Hormuz broke, international oil prices skyrocketed instantly. Brent crude rose 3.75% to $78.86 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) climbed 3.65% to settle at $74.02 per barrel.
