കോഴിക്കോട് : കോഴിക്കോട് ഗോവിന്ദപുരം കൊളങ്ങരക്കണ്ടി സ്വദേശി യു. ദീപക് (42) ആത്മഹത്യ ചെയ്യാന് കാരണമായ വീഡിയോ സോഷ്യല് മീഡിയയില് പ്രചരിപ്പിച്ച യുവതിക്കെതിരേ ആത്മഹത്യാ പ്രേരണ കുറ്റത്തിന് കേസെടുത്തു.
വടകര നിവാസിയായ ഷിംജിതയ്ക്കെതിരേ ബി എന് എസ് 108 വകുപ്പാണ് ചുമത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നത്. 10 വര്ഷം വരെ തടവും പിഴയും ലഭിക്കാവുന്ന വകുപ്പാണിത്. ദീപക്കിന്റെ അമ്മ കെ കന്യക നല്കിയ പരാതിയുടെ അടിസ്ഥാനത്തിലാണ് കേസെടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നത്. മെഡിക്കല് കോളേജ് എസ് ഐ അരുണ് വി ആറിനാണ് അന്വേഷണ ചുമതല. കേസ് നടത്തിപ്പിന് എല്ലാ സഹായവും നല്കുമെന്ന് ഓള് കേരള മെന് അസോസിയേഷന് അറിയിച്ചു. സംഘടനയുടെ പ്രസിഡന്റ് വട്ടിയൂര്കാവ് അജിത് കുമാര് കോഴിക്കോട്ട് എത്തി ദീപക്കിന്റെ അച്ഛനമ്മമാരെ കണ്ടു. വിദേശത്തായിരുന്ന യുവതി വീണ്ടും വിദേശത്തേയ്ക്കു കടന്നുകളയാതിരിക്കാനായി ലുക്കൗട്ട് നോട്ടീസ് പുറപ്പെടുവിക്കാന് അധികൃതരെ സമീപിക്കുമെന്ന് അജിത് കുമാര് പറഞ്ഞു.
സംഭവത്തില് മനുഷ്യാവകാശ കമ്മിഷന് സ്വമേധയാ കേസെടുക്കുകയും നോര്ത്ത് സോണ് ഡിഐജിയോട് ഒരാഴ്ചയ്ക്കകം റിപ്പോര്ട്ട് സമര്പ്പിക്കാന് ഉത്തരവിടുകയും ചെയ്തു. മെഡിക്കല് കോളജ് പൊലീസ് അസ്വാഭാവിക മരണത്തിന് കേസെടുത്തിരുന്നു. ഇതിനു പിന്നാലെയാണ് യുവതിക്കെതിരേ ആത്മഹത്യാ പ്രേരണ കുറ്റം ചുമത്തി കേസെടുത്തത്. പൊലീസ് ദീപക്കിന്റെ വീട്ടിലെത്തി ബന്ധുക്കളുടെ മൊഴി എടുത്തിരുന്നു. യുവതി മനഃപൂര്വം റീച്ചിന് വേണ്ടി വീഡിയോ ചിത്രീകരിച്ചതാണോ എന്നും പൊലീസ് പരിശോധിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്.
ഞായറാഴ്ചയാണ് ദീപക്കിനെ വീട്ടില് തൂങ്ങിമരിച്ച നിലയില് കാണപ്പെട്ടത്. സ്വകാര്യ ബസ് യാത്രയ്ക്കിടെ ഇയാള് തന്നോട് മോശമായി പെരുമാറി എന്ന് ആരോപിച്ച് ഒരു യുവതി സോഷ്യല് മീഡിയയില് വീഡിയോ പങ്കുവച്ചിരുന്നു. ഈ വീഡിയോ വൈറലായതിനെത്തുടര്ന്നുണ്ടായ മാനസിക വിഷമമാണ് മരണത്തിന് കാരണമെന്ന് ദീപക്കിന്റെ ബന്ധുക്കള് പറഞ്ഞു.
പയ്യന്നൂരില് നിന്ന് ബസില് യാത്ര ചെയ്യുമ്പോള് ദീപക് തന്നെ അനാവശ്യമായി സ്പര്ശിച്ചുവെന്നും മോശമായി പെരുമാറിയെന്നും ആരോപിച്ചാണ് അരീക്കോട് സ്വദേശിയായ യുവതി വീഡിയോ ചിത്രീകരിച്ച് ഇന്സ്റ്റഗ്രാമിലും മറ്റ് പ്ലാറ്റ്ഫോമുകളിലും പോസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്തത്.
ഈ വീഡിയോ ദശലക്ഷക്കണക്കിന് ആളുകള് കാണുകയും വ്യാപകമായി പ്രചരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. ഇതോടെ ദീപക് കടുത്ത സൈബര് ആക്രമണങ്ങള്ക്കും പരിഹാസങ്ങള്ക്കും ഇരയായി.
ദീപക് നിരപരാധിയാണെന്നും വീഡിയോ കണ്ട് അയാള് തകര്ന്നുപോയിരുന്നതായും ബന്ധുക്കള് പറയുന്നു. മരിക്കുന്നതിന് മുന്പ് താന് തെറ്റ് ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ലെന്ന് സുഹൃത്തുക്കളോടും വീട്ടുകാരോടും അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നു. ദീപക്കിന്റെ മരണത്തിന് പിന്നാലെ കുടുംബം ശക്തമായ നിയമപോരാട്ടത്തിന് ഒരുങ്ങുകയാണ്:

സോഷ്യല് മീഡിയയിലെ പുരുഷവേട്ട അവസാനിപ്പിക്കണമെന്നും കുറ്റക്കാര്ക്കെതിരെ നടപടി വേണമെന്നും ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ട് സാമൂഹിക പ്രവര്ത്തകന് രാഹുല് ഈശ്വറും ഡിജിപിക്ക് പരാതി നല്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.

The accused, identified as Shimjitha, a resident of Vadakara, has been booked under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). This charge carries a penalty of up to 10 years of imprisonment along with a fine. The case was registered based on a complaint filed by Deepak’s mother, K. Kanyaka. Medical College SI Arun V.R. is in charge of the investigation.
The All Kerala Men’s Association has announced its full support for the legal proceedings. The association's president, Vattiyoorkavu Ajith Kumar, visited Kozhikode to meet Deepak’s parents. He stated that the organization would approach authorities to issue a Lookout Circular (LOC) to ensure that the woman, who was previously abroad, does not flee the country again.
In response to the incident, the Human Rights Commission has registered a suo motu case and directed the North Zone DIG to submit a report within a week. While the Medical College Police had initially registered a case of unnatural death, the charge of abetment of suicide was added subsequently. Police officers visited Deepak’s house to record statements from his relatives. Investigators are also looking into whether the woman intentionally recorded and shared the video for social media "reach."
Deepak was found dead by hanging at his residence on Sunday. His relatives stated that he was deeply distressed by the viral video shared by the woman, who accused him of misbehaving during a private bus journey. The woman, a resident of Areekode, had posted the video on Instagram and other platforms, claiming that Deepak touched her inappropriately while traveling from Payyannur.
The video was viewed by millions and widely circulated, subjecting Deepak to severe cyberbullying and public ridicule. His family maintains that he was innocent and was shattered by the video. Before his death, Deepak had reportedly told his friends and family that he had done nothing wrong.
Following his death, the family is preparing for a firm legal battle. Social activist Rahul Easwar has also filed a complaint with the DGP, demanding an end to "man-hunting" on social media and calling for strict action against the culprits.
