ന്യൂഡല്ഹി: പ്രൗഢഗംഭീരമായ ചടങ്ങില്, ഇന്ത്യയുടെ പതിനാലാമത് പ്രസിഡന്റായി രാം നാഥ് കോവിന്ദ് സത്യപ്രതിജ്ഞ ചെയ്തു.ഇന്ത്യന് രാഷ്ട്രപതി പദത്തിലെത്തുന്ന രണ്ടാമത്തെ ദളിത് നേതാവാണ് അദ്ദേഹം.
ഇന്ത്യന് ചീഫ് ജസ്റ്റിസ് ജെ.എസ്. കേഹര് സത്യവാചകം ചൊല്ലിക്കൊടുത്തു. ഹിന്ദിയിലായിരുന്നു സത്യപ്രതിജ്ഞ ചെയ്തത്.
സ്ഥാനമൊഴിയുന്ന രാഷ്ട്രപതി പ്രണബ് മുഖര്ജി പുതിയ പ്രസിഡന്റിനെ ഹസ്തദാനം ചെയ്ത് അനുമോദിച്ചു.
'എല്ലാ താഴ്മയോടെയും ഞാന് ഈ സ്ഥാനം സ്വീകരിക്കുകയാണ്, ഈ ഉത്തരവാദിത്വം എന്നെ ഏല്പിച്ചതിന് അതിയായി നന്ദിയുണ്ട്,' പ്രസിഡന്റ് കോവിന്ദ് പറഞ്ഞു.
ഡോ. രാധാകൃഷ്ണന്, ഡോ.അബ്ദുല് കലാം, പ്രണബ് ദാ എന്നിവരുടെ വഴി പിന്തുടരുന്നതില് അതിരറ്റ അഭിമാനമുണ്ട്, അദ്ദേഹം കൂട്ടിച്ചേര്ത്തു.
പ്രണബ് മുഖര്ജി, പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി നരേന്ദ്ര മോഡി, ഉപരാഷ്ട്രപതി ഡോ. ഹമീദ് അന്സാരി, ലോക്സഭാ സ്പീക്കര് സുമിത്രാ മഹാജന്, കോണ്ഗ്രസ് അധ്യക്ഷ സോണിയാ ഗാന്ധി, വിവിധ രാഷ്ട്രീയ പാര്ട്ടികളില് നിന്നുള്ള ഉന്നത നേതാക്കള് തുടങ്ങിയവര് സന്നിഹിതരായിരുന്നു.
ഉത്തര് പ്രദേശിലെ കാണ്പുരില് ദാവത്ത് ഗ്രാമത്തിലാണ് രാം നാഥ് കോവിന്ദ് ജനിച്ചത്. ബീഹാര് ഗവര്ണര് പദത്തില് നിന്നാണ് അദ്ദേഹം ഇന്ത്യയുടെ രാഷ്ട്രപതിയായി അവരോധിതനാവുന്നത്.

President Pranab Mukherjee has congratulated the new president. "I'm taking this position with all humility and thank you for giving me this responsibility," said President Kovind.
