16-Year-Old Girl Repeatedly Assaulted; Religious Scholar Arrested in Kollam Under the Pretext of Healing Grandmother’s Illness Through Prayer

കൊല്ലം: 16 കാരിയെ ഒരു വര്‍ഷമായി നിരന്തരം ഗുരുതരമായ ലൈംഗികാതിക്രമങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ഇരയാക്കിയ കേസില്‍ മത പണ്ഡിതനും വ്‌ളോഗറുമായ ഓച്ചിറ കൊച്ചയത്ത് പടിയിറ്റതില്‍ മുഹമ്മദ് നിയാസ് ജൗഹരി (34) യെ പൊലീസ് അറസ്റ്റുചെയ്തു.

പെണ്‍കുട്ടി നല്‍കിയ പരാതിയുടെ അടിസ്ഥാനത്തിലാണ് അറസ്റ്റ്. കുട്ടിയുടെ ബാപ്പയുടെ ഉമ്മ രോഗബാധിതയാണ്. മുത്തശ്ശിയുടെ രോഗം പ്രാര്‍ഥനയിലൂടെ ഭേദമാക്കാമെന്നു വിശ്വസിപ്പിച്ച് തന്നെ വിവിധയിടങ്ങളിലെത്തിച്ചു പീഡിപ്പിച്ചുവെന്നാണ് പെണ്‍കുട്ടിയുടെ മൊഴി. 

വ്‌ളോഗറും മതപ്രഭാഷകനുമായ മുഹമ്മദ് നിയാസ് ജൗഹരി, സമൂഹമാധ്യമങ്ങളിലൂടെ മതപ്രഭാഷണ വിഡിയോകള്‍ പങ്കുവയ്ക്കാറുണ്ട്. 

ഓച്ചിറയിലെ 'ഹബീബിയ്യ ഇസ്ലാമിക് അക്കാദമി' എന്ന സ്ഥാപനത്തിന്റെ ഡയറക്ടറാണ് മുഹമ്മദ് നിയാസ് ജൗഹരി. പെണ്‍കുട്ടിയും കുടുംബവും നല്‍കിയ പരാതിയുടെ അടിസ്ഥാനത്തില്‍ ഓച്ചിറ പൊലീസാണ് ഇയാളെ അറസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്തത്. പോക്‌സോ നിയമപ്രകാരമുള്ള വകുപ്പുകള്‍ ഉള്‍പ്പെടെ ചുമത്തിയാണ് നടപടി.   സംഭവത്തില്‍ പൊലീസ് തുടര്‍ അന്വേഷണം നടത്തിവരികയാണ്.

Religious scholar and vlogger Muhammad Niyas Jauhari (34), a resident of Kochayath Padiyattathil, Oachira, has been arrested by the police for repeatedly subjecting a 16-year-old girl to severe sexual assault over the past year.

The arrest was made following a complaint filed by the girl. The victim’s paternal grandmother was ill, and according to the girl’s statement, the accused lured her to various locations and assaulted her after convincing her that her grandmother's illness could be cured through prayer.

Muhammad Niyas Jauhari, who is a vlogger and religious preacher, frequently shares religious lectures on social media.

He is also the director of an institution named 'Habibiyya Islamic Academy' in Oachira. The Oachira police arrested him based on the complaint lodged by the girl and her family. Charges have been filed against him, including sections under the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act. Further investigation by the police is ongoing.
