News in English:

A missile hit the passenger terminal at the airport in the Saudi Arabian capital of Riyadh on Saturday, injuring several people. Officials have not officially confirmed the incident as they are not authorized to speak to the media. Ambulances could be seen rushing toward the airport.

This incident comes amidst an unusual series of attacks faced by the country in the conflict with Houthi rebels in Yemen, which included the deaths of three Saudi citizens, including a pilot, two days ago.

Following 2:05 PM, flight tracker 'Flightradar24' reported that flights bound for Riyadh were diverted to other locations. Kuwait Airways announced that services were being canceled due to the airport's closure. Citing "ongoing military operations," various embassies advised their citizens to avoid all travel to the airport.

King Khalid International Airport has been targeted multiple times over the past week following a major military offensive launched by the Saudi-led coalition against Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen. The Houthis claimed responsibility for previous attacks, including one on Wednesday that resulted in the death of a Sudanese national.

There were no official statements from the Houthis on Saturday. The Center for International Communication, the Saudi government body handling foreign media in the country, did not respond to media requests for comment.

Ahmed Saeed, a Riyadh resident, told the Associated Press that he heard at least two loud explosions in the capital.

Airport authorities issued a warning advising passengers to check flight status with airlines before heading to the airport. According to the flight tracking site FlightAware, at least 225 flights at the airport have been canceled over the past 24 hours.

Fighting between the Houthis and Saudi-backed Yemeni government forces has intensified as the Saudi coalition provides air support to Yemeni government forces to counter recent Houthi advances along the Red Sea coast.

Saudi authorities had previously warned the public that filming, publishing, or sharing information related to the interception of missiles and drones, as well as the locations where they landed, could lead to legal consequences.

Describing Saudi airspace as a theater for their military operations, the Houthis warned global airlines this week. Airlines that suspended services to Riyadh and other Saudi airports in recent days include Air India, flydubai, Lufthansa Group, and Pakistan International Airlines.
