Massive Protest on Monday; Congress Directs MPs to Reach Delhi, Opposition to Approach Chief Justice

News in English:

Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, announced that the INDIA bloc will organize another protest in Delhi on Monday, October 12, accusing the government of electoral irregularities and protesting against the police action on demonstrators on Saturday. Ahead of this, the Congress party has instructed all its Members of Parliament to remain in Delhi on Monday, October 12.

This step follows Rahul Gandhi’s declaration that the INDIA alliance will take to the streets once again on Monday. The opposition alliance also plans to approach Chief Justice Surya Kant to submit a memorandum regarding the election controversy and the police handling of the protesters on Saturday.

This new move by the opposition comes against the backdrop of widespread preventive detentions, restrictions on public movement, and heavy security deployment in Delhi during protests organized by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

The main protest highlights alleged irregularities in the electoral roll, particularly discrepancies in the Special Intensive Revision process. While the opposition questions the functioning of the Election Commission, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has dismissed these allegations.

In a series of posts on X on Saturday, Rahul Gandhi alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government is attempting to silence students and youth who raised questions about the electoral process.

Referring to the famous villain character 'Mogambo', played by Amrish Puri in the 1987 Hindi film Mr. India, Rahul described the Prime Minister as "Mogambo Modi" and accused the government of attempting to suppress dissent.

He also targeted Union Home Minister Amit Shah over allegations that Delhi Police officers, along with activists from the BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), assaulted the protesters.

"Amit Shah's Delhi Police is not only displaying hooliganism but is also giving full freedom and encouragement to RSS-BJP goons to commit violence against women and youth," Rahul alleged.

The Congress leader warned that attempts to intimidate protesters would only strengthen their resolve rather than end the agitation.

"We will not be scared, nor will we back down. This fight will not stop now!" he stated.

INDIA Bloc to Approach Chief Justice Surya Kant

In addition to street protests, Rahul Gandhi plans to approach Chief Justice Surya Kant on Monday to express concern over the police force used against protesters and the election controversy.

He questioned whether constitutional institutions responsible for safeguarding constitutional rights could remain silent in the face of attacks on democracy.

This memorandum will mark the opposition's next major move in challenging the handling of protests against the Election Commission. Accusing the government of undermining the electoral process, Rahul added that justice will be delivered to the attacked youth and students, and that the perpetrators will receive a fitting reply.

With Congress directing its MPs to stay in the capital and the INDIA bloc gearing up for its next protest, all eyes are now on Monday's demonstration and the opposition's memorandum to the Chief Justice.
