ശ്രീനഗര്‍ : ജമ്മു കശ്മീര്‍ മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി ഒമര്‍ അബ്ദുള്ളയും മാധ്യമപ്രവര്‍ത്തക നിധി റസ്ദാനും വിവാഹിതരായി. ശ്രീനഗറില്‍ നടന്ന ലളിതമായ ചടങ്ങില്‍ അടുത്ത കുടുംബാംഗങ്ങളും സുഹൃത്തുക്കളും പങ്കെടുത്തു. ശനിയാഴ്ച സോഷ്യല്‍ മീഡിയ പോസ്റ്റിലൂടെയാണ് ഇരുവരും ഇക്കാര്യം ഔദ്യോഗികമായി അറിയിച്ചത്.

'ഇന്നലെ ഒരു പുതിയ യാത്ര ആരംഭിച്ചു' എന്ന അടിക്കുറിപ്പോടെ 56-കാരനായ അബ്ദുള്ള എക്സില്‍ നിധി റസ്ദാനെ ടാഗ് ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ട് ചിത്രങ്ങള്‍ പങ്കുവച്ചു. ഇതിന് മറുപടിയായി 49-കാരിയായ കശ്മീരി പണ്ഡിറ്റായ നിധി റസ്ദാന്‍ 'അത് കഴിഞ്ഞു ബ്രോ' എന്ന് കുറിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് വിവാഹവാര്‍ത്ത സ്ഥിരീകരിച്ചു.

കുടുംബാംഗങ്ങള്‍ മാത്രം പങ്കെടുത്ത ശ്രീനഗറിലെ ലളിതമായ ചടങ്ങിലാണ് വിവാഹം നടന്നത്. നാഷണല്‍ കോണ്‍ഫറന്‍സ് പ്രസിഡന്റ് ഫാറൂഖ് അബ്ദുള്ള, മോളി അബ്ദുള്ള (ഉമര്‍ അബ്ദുള്ളയുടെ മാതാപിതാക്കള്‍), അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ മൂന്ന് സഹോദരിമാര്‍, മറ്റ് അടുത്ത ബന്ധുക്കള്‍ എന്നിവര്‍ ചടങ്ങില്‍ പങ്കെടുത്തു. നിധി റസ്ദാന്റെ മാതാപിതാക്കളായ മുതിര്‍ന്ന മാധ്യമപ്രവര്‍ത്തകന്‍ എം.കെ. റസ്ദാനും സര്‍ള റസ്ദാനും ചടങ്ങില്‍ സാന്നിധ്യമായിരുന്നു.

ജമ്മു കശ്മീര്‍ മുഖ്യമന്ത്രിയുടെ മുന്‍ വിവാഹം വര്‍ഷങ്ങളോളം നീണ്ടുനിന്ന നിയമപോരാട്ടങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് വഴിവച്ചിരുന്നു. ആദ്യഭാര്യ പായല്‍ അബ്ദുള്ളയുമായുള്ള പരസ്പര സമ്മതപ്രകാരമുള്ള വിവാഹമോചനം ഈ കഴിഞ്ഞ ജൂലായിലാണ് സുപ്രീം കോടതി അംഗീകരിച്ചത്. ഇരുവര്‍ക്കും രണ്ട് ആണ്‍മക്കളുണ്ട്.

ജസ്റ്റിസ് പി.എസ്. നരസിംഹ, ജസ്റ്റിസ് അലോക് അരാധെ എന്നിവരടങ്ങിയ ബെഞ്ചിനെ ഒമര്‍ അബ്ദുള്ളയ്ക്ക് വേണ്ടി ഹാജരായ മുതിര്‍ന്ന അഭിഭാഷകന്‍ കപില്‍ സിബല്‍ മധ്യസ്ഥതയിലൂടെ പ്രശ്നങ്ങള്‍ പരിഹരിച്ച വിവരം അറിയിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. ഭരണഘടനയുടെ ആര്‍ട്ടിക്കിള്‍ 142 പ്രകാരം വിവാഹമോചനം അനുവദിക്കണമെന്ന് ഇരുവിഭാഗവും സംയുക്തമായി അപേക്ഷ നല്‍കി.

'രണ്ടുപേരും സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യം തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു. എല്ലാം ഒത്തുതീര്‍പ്പിലായി. കോടതി വിവാഹമോചനം അനുവദിച്ചേക്കാം. മറ്റ് കേസുകളെല്ലാം പിന്‍വലിക്കും,' എന്ന് സിബല്‍ കോടതിയെ അറിയിച്ചിരുന്നു. ഈ ഒത്തുതീര്‍പ്പ് വ്യവസ്ഥകള്‍ സുപ്രീം കോടതി അംഗീകരിക്കുകയും വിധി പ്രസ്താവിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and journalist Nidhi Razdan have tied the knot. The simple ceremony, held in Srinagar, was attended by close family members and friends. The couple officially announced the news via social media posts on Saturday.

Sharing pictures on X (formerly Twitter), the 56-year-old Abdullah tagged Nidhi Razdan with the caption, "A new journey began yesterday." Replying to the post, 49-year-old Nidhi Razdan confirmed the news, writing, "Done and dusted bro."

The wedding took place in a low-key ceremony in Srinagar attended strictly by family. National Conference President Farooq Abdullah and Molly Abdullah (parents of Omar Abdullah), his three sisters, and other close relatives attended the function. Nidhi Razdan’s parents—veteran journalist M.K. Razdan and Sarla Razdan—were also present.

The Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister's previous marriage had been the subject of a years-long legal dispute. The Supreme Court approved a mutual consent divorce between him and his first wife, Payal Abdullah, this past July. The couple has two sons.

Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for Omar Abdullah before a bench comprising Justice P.S. Narasimha and Justice Alok Aradhe, informed the court that the issues had been resolved through mediation. Both parties submitted a joint application requesting the court to grant the divorce under Article 142 of the Constitution.

"Both have chosen freedom. Everything has been settled. The court may grant the divorce. All other cases will be withdrawn," Sibal had informed the court. The Supreme Court accepted the settlement terms and issued the decree.

Nidhi was formerly an Executive Editor with the prominent English news channel NDTV, and served as the primary anchor for NDTV 24x7’s news debate show Left, Right & Centre as well as the weekly debate show The Big Fight. A Kashmiri Pandit, Nidhi is the daughter of Maharaj Krishan Razdan, the former Editor-in-Chief of the news agency Press Trust of India (PTI). A graduate of Lady Shri Ram College, she earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Radio and TV Journalism from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), Delhi. Her family hails from Budgam in Central Kashmir. Nidhi married journalist and writer Neelesh Misra in 2005; the couple divorced two years later in 2007.
