News in Egnlish:
India retained its gold medal in the Asian Games 2026 men's cricket final by defeating Pakistan by 19 runs at the Korogi Sports Park in Nishin, Japan.
Having won the toss and elected to bat, India got off to an explosive start. Backed by Abhishek Sharma's brilliant 61 off 28 balls (including 7 sixes), India crossed the 100-run mark within the first 9 overs.
Pakistan fought back in the middle overs through wickets from Arafat Minhas (2/25) and Abrar Ahmed (1/29), restricting India to 146/5. However, Tilak Varma provided a strong finish, remaining undefeated with a 22-ball 51 (3 fours, 4 sixes). Partnering with Shivam Dube, Tilak helped push the team's total past 200.
Chasing a target of 212 runs, Pakistan struggled to score early on against the disciplined bowling of Washington Sundar and Axar Patel. Axar picked up two crucial middle-order wickets. Hassan Nawaz kept Pakistan in the contest with a fiery 96 off 51 balls (5 fours, 7 sixes). Building an 87-run partnership with Saim Ayub (29), he prevented the required run rate from mounting too high.
Despite Nawaz's brilliant knock, India held its nerve under pressure in the closing overs. With 33 runs needed off the final over, Shivam Dube dismissed Nawaz off the last ball, bringing Pakistan's innings to an end at 192/6.
With this victory, India secured its second consecutive gold medal in Asian Games men's cricket (following Hangzhou 2022). Combined with the Indian women's cricket team winning gold in Aichi-Nagoya, it completed a double gold sweep for India.
