ഗുരുവായൂര്‍: ഗുരുവായൂര്‍ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ പുതിയ മേല്‍ശാന്തിയായി പുത്തമ്പള്ളി പഴയത്ത് മന സതീശന്‍ നമ്പൂതിരിയെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു. ഉച്ചപൂജയ്ക്ക് ശേഷം ക്ഷേത്ര നമസ്‌കാരമണ്ഡപത്തില്‍ നടന്ന നറുക്കെടുപ്പിലൂടെയാണ് മേല്‍ശാന്തിയെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തത്. സെപ്റ്റംബര്‍ 30 മുതല്‍ ആറുമാസക്കാലമാണ് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ കാലാവധി. ഗുരുവായൂര്‍ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ ഓത്തിക്കന്‍ കുടുംബങ്ങളിലൊന്നായ പഴയത്ത് മന അംഗമാണ്.

ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ ഓതിക്കന്‍ കൂടിയായ സതീശന്‍ നമ്പൂതിരി ഇത് രണ്ടാം തവണയാണ് ഭഗവാന്റെ മേല്‍ശാന്തി പദവിയിലേക്ക് തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെടുന്നത്. ഈ മാസം 30-ന് രാത്രി അത്താഴപൂജയ്ക്ക് ശേഷം അദ്ദേഹം സ്ഥാനമേല്‍ക്കും.

2014 ഏപ്രില്‍ മുതല്‍ സെപ്റ്റംബര്‍ അവസാനം വരെയുള്ള കാലയളവില്‍ അദ്ദേഹം ഗുരുവായൂരില്‍ മേല്‍ശാന്തിയായി സേവനമനുഷ്ഠിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഇതിന് പുറമെ കോവിഡ് വ്യാപന കാലഘട്ടത്തിലും ആറ് മാസത്തോളം മേല്‍ശാന്തിയുടെ പൂര്‍ണ്ണ ചുമതല വഹിച്ചിരുന്നു.

മേല്‍ശാന്തി സ്ഥാനത്തേക്ക് അപേക്ഷ സമര്‍പ്പിച്ചവരില്‍ പ്രാഥമിക പരിശോധനയ്ക്ക് ശേഷം 43 പേരെയാണ് ക്ഷേത്രം തന്ത്രിയുമായുള്ള കൂടിക്കാഴ്ചയ്ക്കായി ക്ഷണിച്ചിരുന്നത്. ഇതില്‍ പങ്കെടുത്ത 38 പേരില്‍ നിന്ന് തന്ത്രി യോഗ്യരായി കണ്ടെത്തിയ 33 പേരുടെ പേരുകള്‍ ഉള്‍പ്പെടുത്തിയായിരുന്നു അന്തിമ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ്. ഉച്ചപൂജയ്ക്ക് ശേഷം ക്ഷേത്രനട തുറന്ന വേളയില്‍ നമസ്‌കാര മണ്ഡപത്തില്‍ വെള്ളി കലശക്കുടത്തില്‍ നിക്ഷേപിച്ച പേരുകളില്‍ നിന്ന് നിലവിലെ മേല്‍ശാന്തി നാരായണന്‍ നമ്പൂതിരിയാണ് സതീശന്‍ നമ്പൂതിരിയുടെ പേര് നറുക്കെടുത്തത്.

1984 മുതല്‍ പൂജാകര്‍മ്മങ്ങള്‍ നിര്‍വ്വഹിച്ചു തുടങ്ങിയ സതീശന്‍ നമ്പൂതിരിയെ പിതാവ് ഇട്ടിരവി നമ്പൂതിരിയും മുത്തച്ഛന്റെ സഹോദരന്‍ ഇട്ടിരവി നമ്പൂതിരിയുമാണ് താന്ത്രിക വിദ്യകള്‍ അഭ്യസിപ്പിച്ചത്. ഗണിതശാസ്ത്ര  ബിരുദധാരിയായ അദ്ദേഹം മുന്‍പ് വിവിധ സ്വകാര്യ സ്ഥാപനങ്ങളില്‍ അക്കൗണ്ടന്റായും സേവനമനുഷ്ഠിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.

പൊട്ടക്കുഴി മനക്കല്‍ ശാന്ത അന്തര്‍ജനമാണ് അമ്മ. ഒറ്റപ്പാലം മേച്ചേരി മനയില്‍ ഷീജ അന്തര്‍ജനമാണ് ഭാര്യ. ഡോ. ശ്രീരഞ്ജിനി, ശ്രീവിദ്യ എന്നിവരാണ് മക്കള്‍.

Puthampally Pazhayath Mana Satheesan Namboodiri has been selected as the new Melsanthi (chief priest) of the Guruvayur Temple. He was chosen through a draw of lots held at the temple's Namaskara Mandapam following the Uchapooja (afternoon worship). His tenure will last for six months, starting from September 30. He is a member of the Pazhayath Mana, one of the traditional Othikkan families of the Guruvayur Temple.

This is the second time that Satheesan Namboodiri, who is also an Othikkan at the temple, has been selected for the position of Melsanthi. He will assume charge on the night of September 30 after the Athazhapooja (night worship).

He previously served as the Melsanthi at Guruvayur from April 2014 to the end of September 2014. Additionally, he held full charge as the Melsanthi for about six months during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Out of those who applied for the Melsanthi post, 43 candidates were shortlisted after preliminary screening and invited for an interview with the temple Tantri. Of the 38 candidates who attended, the Tantri found 33 eligible, and their names were included in the final selection process. After the temple doors opened following the Uchapooja, the current Melsanthi, Narayanan Namboodiri, drew Satheesan Namboodiri's name from a silver pot placed at the Namaskara Mandapam.

Satheesan Namboodiri, who began performing rituals in 1984, was trained in tantric rites by his father, Ittiravi Namboodiri, and his grandfather's brother, Ittiravi Namboodiri. A mathematics graduate, he has also previously worked as an accountant in various private firms.

His mother is Pottakkuzhi Manakkal Shanta Antharjanam. His wife is Sheeja Antharjanam from Mecheri Mana, Ottapalam. Dr. Sreeranjini and Sreevidya are his daughters.
