പറന്തൂരില്‍ പദ്ധതിക്കായി നിര്‍ദ്ദേശിക്കപ്പെട്ട സ്ഥലം

ന്യൂഡല്‍ഹി : പറന്തൂര്‍ വിമാനത്താവള പദ്ധതി ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചതിനെത്തുടര്‍ന്ന്, പുതിയ വിമാനത്താവളത്തിനായി തമിഴ്നാട് സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ രണ്ട് സ്ഥലങ്ങള്‍ കണ്ടെത്തി. തമിഴ്നാട് മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി സി. ജോസഫ് വിജയ് പറന്തൂര്‍ പദ്ധതി റദ്ദാക്കി ദിവസങ്ങള്‍ക്കുള്ളിലാണ് ഈ വിവരങ്ങള്‍ പുറത്തുവരുന്നത്.

മണല്ലൂര്‍, ചെയ്യൂര്‍ എന്നിവയാണ് എയര്‍പോര്‍ട്ടിനായി തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തിരിക്കുന്ന സ്ഥലങ്ങള്‍. ചെന്നൈ മെട്രോപൊളിറ്റന്‍ മേഖലക്കു വേണ്ടിയാണ് ഈ വിമാനത്താവളം നിര്‍മ്മിക്കുന്നത്.

ഈ രണ്ട് സ്ഥലങ്ങളും തുടര്‍ സാധ്യത പഠനങ്ങള്‍ക്കായി എയര്‍പോര്‍ട്ട് അതോറിറ്റി ഒഫ് ഇന്ത്യയ്ക്ക്  ശുപാര്‍ശ ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ട്. ചെന്നൈയില്‍ നിന്ന് മണല്ലൂരിലേക്ക് ഏകദേശം 60 കിലോമീറ്ററും ചെയ്യൂരിലേക്ക് 100 കിലോമീറ്ററുമാണ് ദൂരം.

കര്‍ഷകരുടെ താത്പര്യങ്ങള്‍ സംരക്ഷിക്കുന്നതിനും കൃഷിഭൂമിയും ജനവാസ മേഖലകളും നശിക്കുന്നത് ഒഴിവാക്കുന്നതിനുമാണ് പറന്തൂര്‍ പദ്ധതി ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചതെന്ന് മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി വിജയ് വ്യക്തമാക്കി.

മുന്‍ ഡി.എം.കെ സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ പരിസ്ഥിതി ആഘാത പഠനമോ ആവശ്യമായ അനുമതികളോ ഇല്ലാതെയാണ് ഭൂമി ഏറ്റെടുത്തതെന്ന് വിഭവ-നിയമ മന്ത്രി ആര്‍. നിര്‍മ്മല്‍ കുമാര്‍ ആരോപിച്ചു. നിര്‍ദ്ദിഷ്ട ഭൂമിയില്‍ ഭൂരിഭാഗവും ഫലഭൂയിഷ്ഠമായ കൃഷിഭൂമിയും ജലാശയങ്ങളുമാണെന്നും നിര്‍മ്മാണത്തിന്റെ 90 ശതമാനവും പൂര്‍ത്തിയായി എന്ന പ്രതിപക്ഷ വാദം തെറ്റാണെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു.

News in English: Following the cancellation of the Parandur airport project, the Tamil Nadu government has identified two new potential locations for the airport. This news emerges just days after Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay officially scrapped the Parandur plan.

Manellore and Cheyyur are the two sites shortlisted for the proposed airport, which is intended to serve the Chennai Metropolitan Area.

Both locations have been recommended to the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for preliminary feasibility studies. Manellore is approximately 60 kilometers from Chennai, while Cheyyur is roughly 100 kilometers away.

Chief Minister Vijay stated that the Parandur project was abandoned to protect the interests of farmers and prevent the destruction of agricultural land and residential settlements.

Energy and Law Minister R. Nirmal Kumar accused the previous DMK government of acquiring land without conducting an environmental impact assessment or securing the necessary clearances. He added that a major portion of the earmarked land consisted of fertile farmlands and water bodies, dismissing the opposition's claim that 90 percent of the work was already completed as false.
