ശാസ്താംകോട്ട : കൊല്ലം പൂയപ്പള്ളി സ്വദേശികളായ രാജീവ് (26), അഭിരാമി (19) എന്നിവരെ ശാസ്താംകോട്ട കായലില്‍ മരിച്ച നിലയില്‍ കണ്ടെത്തി. ഇരുവരും പ്രണയത്തിലായിരുന്നുവെന്നു ബന്ധുക്കള്‍ പറഞ്ഞു.

വിവാഹത്തിന് വീട്ടുകാര്‍ എതിര്‍ത്തിനെ തുടര്‍ന്നുള്ള മനോവിഷമത്തില്‍ ആത്മഹത്യ ചെയ്യുകയായിരുന്നുവെന്നു കരുതുന്നതായി പൊലീല് പറഞ്ഞു.

ഇന്നലെ വൈകുന്നേരമാണ് ഇരുവരും ശാസ്താംകോട്ട കായല്‍ പരിസരത്ത് എത്തിയത്. ഇരുവരുടെയും ബാഗുകള്‍ കണ്ടെത്തി. ഇന്നു രാവിലെയോടെ വിവരമറിഞ്ഞ ഉടന്‍തന്നെ പ്രദേശവാസികളും അഗ്‌നിരക്ഷാ സേനയും പൊലീസും സ്ഥലത്തെത്തി തിരച്ചില്‍ നടത്തുകയും മൃതദേഹങ്ങള്‍ കരയ്ക്കെത്തിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.

ബന്ധുക്കളുടെ പരാതിയെ തുടര്‍ന്ന് പൊലീസ് ഇരുവരെയും വിളിച്ചുവരുത്തിയിരുന്നു. പ്രായപൂര്‍ത്തിയായ തങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ഒരുമിച്ചു ജീവിക്കാനാണ് ഇഷ്ടമെന്ന് ഇരുവരും പൊലീസിനോടു പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നു. 

പിന്നീട് വീട്ടില്‍ നിന്നുണ്ടായ സമ്മര്‍ദ്ദമാണോ ആത്മഹത്യയിലേക്കു നയിച്ചതെന്നും പൊലീസ് അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. പൊലീസ് കേസ് രജിസ്റ്റര്‍ ചെയ്ത് ഇന്‍ക്വസ്റ്റ് നടപടികളും അന്വേഷണവും ആരംഭിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.

The couple reached the vicinity of Sasthamcotta Lake yesterday evening, where their bags were later recovered. Upon receiving information early this morning, local residents, the fire force, and the police arrived at the scene, conducted a search, and brought the bodies to shore.

Following a complaint from their relatives, the police had previously summoned the couple. Both had informed the police that as adults, they wished to live together. Police are currently investigating whether subsequent pressure from their families led to the suicide. A case has been registered, and inquest proceedings and investigations are underway.
