30 വയസ്സുള്ള ഷാ നേപ്പാൾ ഇലക്ട്രിസിറ്റി അതോറിറ്റിയിലെ (NEA) മെക്കാനിക്കൽ ഫോർമാനും, 45 വയസ്സുള്ള മഹർജൻ ത്രിശൂലി-3 'A' ഹൈഡ്രോ പവർ പ്രോജക്റ്റിലെ സൂപ്പർവൈസറുമാണ്. പ്രളയത്തിൽ പ്രവേശന കവാടം അടഞ്ഞതിനെത്തുടർന്ന് തുരംഗത്തിലൂടെ ഇഴഞ്ഞുനീങ്ങിയതിനെത്തുടർന്ന് ഇരുവർക്കും കൈകാലുകൾക്ക് പരിക്കേറ്റിട്ടുണ്ട്.

"ഞാൻ വളരെ സന്തോഷവാനാണ്, എന്റെ മനസ്സിന് ഇപ്പോൾ ആശ്വാസം തോന്നുന്നു," രക്ഷപ്പെട്ട കബീർ മഹർജന്റെ സഹോദരൻ അമീർ മഹർജൻ വാർത്താ ഏജൻസിയായ എഎഫ്‌പിയോട് പറഞ്ഞു.

തന്റെ ഭർത്താവ് തുരംഗത്തിൽ നിന്ന് പുറത്തെടുക്കുമ്പോൾ ബോധവാനായിരുന്നുവെന്നും കാഠ്മണ്ഡുവിലെ സൈനിക ആശുപത്രിയായ ഛൗണി ആശുപത്രിയിലേക്ക് കൊണ്ടുപോകാൻ തയ്യാറെടുക്കുകയാണെന്നും മഹർജന്റെ ഭാര്യ ബിബിസിയോട് പറഞ്ഞു.

ഓഗസ്റ്റ് 26-ന് നേപ്പാളിലെ നഗരങ്ങളെയും താഴ്‌വരകളെയും തകർത്ത, ഹിമാനികളുടെ തകർച്ച മൂലം ഉണ്ടായതെന്ന് കരുതപ്പെടുന്ന പ്രളയത്തിന് ഒൻപത് ദിവസങ്ങൾക്ക് ശേഷമാണ് ഈ രക്ഷാപ്രവർത്തനം നടന്നത്. ത്രിശൂലി 3A തുരംഗത്തിൽ രക്ഷാപ്രവർത്തനം തുടരുമ്പോൾ കൂടുതൽ ശബ്ദങ്ങൾ കേട്ടതായി പ്രാദേശിക മാധ്യമങ്ങൾ റിപ്പോർട്ട് ചെയ്യുന്നു.

ത്രിശൂലി 3A ഹൈഡ്രോ പവർ പ്രോജക്റ്റിലെ ഭൂഗർഭ പവർ ഹൗസിലേക്ക് നയിക്കുന്ന തുരംഗത്തിന് നാല് കിലോമീറ്ററിലധികം (2.5 മൈൽ) നീളമുണ്ട്.

Nine days after a deadly flash flood—thought to be triggered by a glacial outburst—wreaked havoc across at least three districts in Nepal, two individuals were pulled out alive from a debris-covered hydropower project tunnel in Trishuli. This development has renewed hopes that others may still be trapped inside. Images broadcast by local television news channels showed rescuers carrying mud-soaked workers on their shoulders out of the Trishuli 3A Hydropower Project.
Nepal's Home Minister, Sudan Gurung, confirmed that the rescued individuals are Kabir Maharjan and Sanjay Shah.
Shah (30) is a mechanical foreman at the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), while Maharjan (45) works as a supervisor at the Trishuli-3 'A' Hydropower Project. Both sustained injuries to their hands and legs while crawling through the tunnel after the flood blocked the entrance.
"I am very happy, and I feel relieved now," Kabir Maharjan's brother, Amir Maharjan, told the news agency AFP.
According to a BBC report, Shah, who was unable to speak at the time of rescue, was airlifted to Battar, northwest of the capital, Kathmandu.
Maharjan's wife informed the BBC that her husband was conscious when he was pulled out of the tunnel and was being prepared for transfer to the Chhauni Hospital, a military hospital in Kathmandu.
This rescue took place nine days after the floods devastated towns and valleys in Nepal on August 26. Local media report that rescuers heard further sounds while continuing operations inside the Trishuli 3A tunnel.
The tunnel leading to the underground powerhouse at the Trishuli 3A Hydropower Project spans more than four kilometers (2.5 miles) in length.
