തിരുവനന്തപുരം: സംസ്ഥാനത്ത് കാലവര്ഷം കനത്ത നാശം വിതച്ച് തുടരുന്നു. രണ്ട് ദിവസമായി പെയ്യുന്ന കനത്ത മഴയിലും വിവിധ അപകടങ്ങളിലുമായി 12 പേര് മരിച്ചു. കണ്ണൂര് കൂത്തുപറമ്പില് തോട്ടിന്കരയില് മരിച്ച നിലയില് കണ്ടെത്തിയ കൈതേരി ഇടത്തില് രാരിഷ്, കാപ്പാട് വെള്ളക്കെട്ടില് വീണു മരിച്ച രണ്ടു വയസ്സുകാരന് മാസിന്, തിരുവനന്തപുരത്തു നിന്നു കാണാതായി മൃതദേഹം കണ്ടെത്തിയ മത്സ്യത്തൊഴിലാളികളായ ഫ്രീമോന്, ആന്റണി എന്നിവരാണ് ഒടുവില് മരിച്ചത്. കൊല്ലം, കണ്ണൂര്, തിരുവനന്തപുരം തീരങ്ങളില് കടലില് കാണാതായ 6 പേര്ക്കായി തെരച്ചില് തുടരുകയാണ്. അപകടങ്ങളില് പരിക്കേറ്റ 13 പേര് ആശുപത്രികളില് ചികിത്സയിലാണ്.
8 ജില്ലകളില് വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ സ്ഥാപനങ്ങള്ക്ക് അവധി (ഓഗസ്റ്റ് 3)
കനത്ത മഴ തുടരുന്ന സാഹചര്യത്തില് നാളെ (ഓഗസ്റ്റ് 3) പത്തനംതിട്ട, കണ്ണൂര്, കാസര്കോട്, കോഴിക്കോട്, വയനാട്, ഇടുക്കി, കോട്ടയം, തൃശൂര് എന്നീ 8 ജില്ലകളിലെ മുഴുവന് വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ സ്ഥാപനങ്ങള്ക്കും അവധി പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചു. കൂടാതെ ആലപ്പുഴയിലെ ചെങ്ങന്നൂര്, കുട്ടനാട് താലൂക്കുകളിലെ പ്രഫഷനല് കോളജുകള്, അങ്കണവാടികള്, ട്യൂഷന് സെന്ററുകള് അടക്കമുള്ള എല്ലാ സ്ഥാപനങ്ങള്ക്കും ദുരിതാശ്വാസ ക്യാമ്പുകള് പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കുന്ന സ്കൂളുകള്ക്കും അവധിയായിരിക്കും.
മഴ അവധി ദിനങ്ങളില് ട്യൂഷന് സെന്ററുകളും പ്രവര്ത്തിക്കാന് പാടില്ലെന്നും ലംഘിച്ചാല് ദുരന്തനിവാരണ നിയമപ്രകാരം നടപടിയെടുക്കുമെന്നും അധികൃതര് അറിയിച്ചു. എന്നാല് മുന്കൂട്ടി നിശ്ചയിച്ച പരീക്ഷകള്ക്ക് മാറ്റമുണ്ടായിരിക്കില്ല.
കനത്ത ജാഗ്രതയില് പത്തനംതിട്ട; പമ്പയില് അതിതീവ്ര മുന്നറിയിപ്പ്
പത്തനംതിട്ട ജില്ലയില് പ്രളയ ഏകോപന ചുമതലയുള്ള മന്ത്രി പി.സി. വിഷ്ണുനാഥ് കനത്ത ജാഗ്രതാ നിര്ദേശം നല്കി. പമ്പാനദിയില് അതിതീവ്ര മുന്നറിയിപ്പുള്ളതിനാല് രാത്രിയിലും മിന്നല് പ്രളയസാധ്യത നിലനില്ക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. താഴ്ന്ന പ്രദേശങ്ങളില് ഉള്ളവര് അധികൃതരുടെ നിര്ദേശപ്രകാരം ഉടന് സുരക്ഷിത സ്ഥാനങ്ങളിലേക്ക് മാറണം. പ്രളയബാധിത വാര്ഡുകളിലെ ശുചീകരണത്തിന് 25,000 രൂപ വീതവും ക്യാമ്പുകളുടെ നടത്തിപ്പിന് ഒരു ലക്ഷം രൂപ വീതവും ജില്ലാ ഭരണകൂടം അനുവദിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. ദുരിതബാധിതര്ക്കുള്ള നഷ്ടപരിഹാരം അടുത്ത മന്ത്രിസഭാ യോഗത്തില് തീരുമാനിക്കും.
മഴ മുന്നറിയിപ്പുകളും ആഘാതവും
ഓഗസ്റ്റ് 3-ന് പത്തനംതിട്ട, ആലപ്പുഴ, കോട്ടയം, ഇടുക്കി, എറണാകുളം, മലപ്പുറം, കോഴിക്കോട്, വയനാട്, കണ്ണൂര്, കാസര്കോട് ജില്ലകളില് യെലോ അലര്ട്ട് പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.
- സംസ്ഥാനത്തൊട്ടാകെ 209 ക്യാമ്പുകളിലായി 5,792 പേരെ മാറ്റിപ്പാര്പ്പിച്ചു.
- 27 വീടുകള് പൂര്ണ്ണമായും 196 വീടുകള് ഭാഗികമായും തകര്ന്നു.
ഗതാഗത തടസ്സം: താമരശ്ശേരി ചുരം ആറാം വളവില് കനത്ത മഴയില് മണ്ണിടിഞ്ഞതിനെ തുടര്ന്ന് വാഹനങ്ങള് നിയന്ത്രിച്ചാണ് കടത്തിവിടുന്നത്. തിരുവനന്തപുരത്തും കാസര്കോടും കാറ്റിലും മഴയിലും വീടുകളുടെ മേല്ക്കൂരകള് തകരുകയും മരം വീണ് നാശനഷ്ടങ്ങള് ഉണ്ടാവുകയും ചെയ്തു.
ഡാമുകള്: നദികളിലെയും അണക്കെട്ടുകളിലെയും ജലനിരപ്പ് നിലവില് സുരക്ഷിത നിലയിലാണെങ്കിലും 13 അണക്കെട്ടുകളില് നിന്ന് നിയന്ത്രിത അളവില് വെള്ളം പുറത്തേക്ക് ഒഴുക്കുന്നുണ്ട്.
പൊതുജനങ്ങള്ക്കുള്ള സുരക്ഷാ നിര്ദേശങ്ങള്
- മലയോര/രാത്രി യാത്രകള് പൂര്ണ്ണമായും ഒഴിവാക്കുക.
- പുഴകളിലോ മറ്റ് ജലാശയങ്ങളിലോ മീന്പിടിക്കാനോ കുളിക്കാനോ ഇറങ്ങരുത്.
- കേരള തീരത്ത് 40 മുതല് 50 കി.മീ വരെ വേഗത്തില് ശക്തമായ കാറ്റിനും കടല്ക്ഷോഭത്തിനും സാധ്യതയുള്ളതിനാല് മത്സ്യത്തൊഴിലാളികള് കടലില് പോകരുത്.

Heavy monsoon rains continue to wreak havoc across the state. Twelve people have died in various rain-related accidents over the past two days. The latest fatalities include Rarish from Kaitheri Edathil, who was found dead near a stream bank in Koothuparamba, Kannur; two-year-old Masin, who died while undergoing treatment after falling into a waterlogged area in Kappad; and fishermen Freemon and Antony, whose bodies were recovered after they went missing from Thiruvananthapuram. Meanwhile, search operations are ongoing for six missing persons off the coasts of Kollam, Kannur, and Thiruvananthapuram. Thirteen injured individuals are currently receiving medical treatment at various hospitals.
Educational Institutions Closed in 8 Districts (August 3)
In light of the persistent heavy rains, a holiday has been declared tomorrow (August 3) for all educational institutions in 8 districts: Pathanamthitta, Kannur, Kasaragod, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Idukki, Kottayam, and Thrissur. Additionally, all educational institutions—including professional colleges, Anganwadis, and tuition centers—in the Chengannur and Kuttanad taluks of Alappuzha district, as well as schools operating as relief camps, will remain closed.
Authorities have clarified that tuition centers must not function on rain holidays, warning that strict action will be taken under the Disaster Management Act against any violations. However, pre-scheduled examinations will proceed as planned.
Pathanamthitta on High Alert; Severe Warning for Pamba River
Minister P. C. Vishnunadh, who is in charge of flood coordination in Pathanamthitta district, issued a high-alert warning. Due to an extreme warning issued for the Pamba River, the risk of flash floods remains high overnight. Residents in low-lying areas have been urged to move immediately to safer locations following instructions from authorities.
The district administration has sanctioned ₹25,000 per flood-affected ward for sanitation drives and ₹1 lakh each for the operation of relief camps. Compensation for flood victims will be decided at the upcoming Cabinet meeting.
Weather Alerts and Impact
A Yellow Alert has been issued for August 3 across Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts.
Relief Camps: A total of 5,792 people have been relocated to 209 relief camps across the state.
Property Damage: 27 houses have been completely destroyed, and 196 houses partially damaged.
Traffic Disruptions: Traffic is being restricted along the 6th hairpin curve of the Thamarassery Ghat Pass due to a landslide caused by heavy rain. Roofs were blown off homes and trees were uprooted in Thiruvananthapuram and Kasaragod due to strong winds and heavy rainfall.
Dams: Water levels in major rivers and dams remain at safe levels, though water is being released in controlled quantities from 13 dams.
Safety Guidelines for the Public
Avoid night travel and trips to hilly areas completely.
Do not enter rivers or other water bodies for fishing, bathing, or recreational activities.
Fishermen are strictly advised not to venture into the sea, as strong winds reaching speeds of 40 to 50 km/h and rough sea conditions are expected along the Kerala coast.
