Actor Devan Quits BJP; Resigns from State Vice President Post and Primary Membership

ആലപ്പുഴ: ബിജെപി സംസ്ഥാന വൈസ് പ്രസിഡന്റും ചലച്ചിത്ര നടനുമായ ദേവൻ പാർട്ടിയിൽ നിന്ന് രാജിവെച്ചു. ബിജെപിയുടെ പ്രാഥമിക അംഗത്വവും ഭാരവാഹിത്വവും അദ്ദേഹം ഒഴിഞ്ഞു.

ആലപ്പുഴ കണിച്ചുകുളങ്ങര ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ നടന്ന പൊതുപരിപാടിയിലാണ് അപ്രതീക്ഷിത രാജി പ്രഖ്യാപനം നടത്തിയത്.  രാജിക്കുള്ള പ്രധാന കാരണം  ശ്രീനാരായണ ഗുരുദേവന്റെ രാഷ്ട്രീയ ദർശനങ്ങളിലും ആശയങ്ങളിലും ഊന്നി പ്രവർത്തിക്കാനാണ് താൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നതെന്നും, എന്നാൽ കഴിഞ്ഞ അഞ്ച് വർഷമായി സംസ്ഥാന ബിജെപിയിൽ ഈ ആശയങ്ങൾ കാണാൻ സാധിച്ചില്ലെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം വ്യക്തമാക്കി. 

തന്റെ രാഷ്ട്രീയ ശൈലിയും പാർട്ടിയുടെ ശൈലിയും തമ്മിൽ യോജിച്ചുപോകുന്നില്ലെന്ന് ബോധ്യപ്പെട്ടതായും ദേവൻ പറഞ്ഞു. രാജി സംബന്ധിച്ച തീരുമാനം നാലഞ്ച് മാസങ്ങൾക്ക് മുൻപേ എടുത്തിരുന്നതാണെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം കൂട്ടിച്ചേർത്തു.  ദേവന്റെ പ്രതികരണം:  "ബിജെപിയ്ക്ക് വേണ്ടി വളരെ സജീവമായി താൻ പ്രവർത്തിച്ചിരുന്നു.

തിരുവനന്തപുരത്ത് രാജീവ് ചന്ദ്രശേഖറിന്റെ വിജയത്തിനും സുരേഷ് ഗോപിക്ക് വേണ്ടിയും കാര്യമായ സംഭാവനകൾ നൽകാൻ എനിക്ക് സാധിച്ചു. എന്നാൽ ഞാൻ ഉദ്ദേശിക്കുന്ന രാഷ്ട്രീയം ശ്രീനാരായണ ഗുരുദേവന്റെ ആദർശങ്ങളും ആശയങ്ങളും അടങ്ങിയതാണ്. കഴിഞ്ഞ അഞ്ച് വർഷക്കാലമായി ബിജെപിയിൽ അത് കാണാൻ സാധിച്ചില്ല. 

എന്റെ ലൈൻ ഇതല്ലെന്ന് എനിക്ക് മനസ്സിലായി. മുൻപ് തന്നെ എടുത്ത തീരുമാനപ്രകാരം വൈസ് പ്രസിഡന്റ് സ്ഥാനവും പ്രാഥമിക അംഗത്വവും രാജിവെക്കാനുള്ള കത്ത് ഞാൻ തയ്യാറാക്കിവെച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്."രാഷ്ട്രീയ പശ്ചാത്തലം  2004-ൽ 'കേരള പീപ്പിൾസ് പാർട്ടി' (നവകേരള പീപ്പിൾസ് പാർട്ടി) രൂപീകരിച്ച് രാഷ്ട്രീയത്തിൽ സജീവമായ ദേവൻ, 2021 മാർച്ച് മാസത്തിലാണ് പാർട്ടി ബിജെപിയിൽ ലയിപ്പിച്ചത്. 

അന്നത്തെ ബിജെപി സംസ്ഥാന അധ്യക്ഷൻ കെ. സുരേന്ദ്രൻ നയിച്ച 'വിജയ് യാത്ര'യുടെ സമാപന വേദിയിൽ വെച്ച് കേന്ദ്ര ആഭ്യന്തര മന്ത്രി അമിത് ഷായുടെ സാന്നിധ്യത്തിലായിരുന്നു ലയനം. തുടർന്ന് പാർട്ടി സംസ്ഥാന ഉപാധ്യക്ഷനായി പ്രവർത്തിച്ചു വരികയായിരുന്നു.  

നിയമസഭാ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് കാലത്തുണ്ടായ ചില ആഭ്യന്തര അഭിപ്രായവ്യത്യാസങ്ങളും പ്രശ്നങ്ങളും പാർട്ടി വിടാനുള്ള തീരുമാനത്തെ സ്വാധീനിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടെന്ന് സൂചിപ്പിച്ചെങ്കിലും, അത്തരം വിവാദ വിഷയങ്ങളിലേക്ക് കൂടുതൽ കടക്കാൻ അദ്ദേഹം തയ്യാറായില്ല.  

നാലഞ്ച് മാസങ്ങൾക്ക് മുന്നേ ഞാൻ തീരുമാനമെടുത്തിരുന്നു. ഈ വേദിയിൽ പ്രഖ്യാപനം നടത്തണമെന്ന് ഇവിടെ ഇരുന്ന ശേഷമാണ് ഞാൻ തീരുമാനിച്ചത്. ഞാൻ ബിജെപിയുടെ വൈസ് പ്രസിഡന്റ് സ്ഥാനവും പ്രാഥമിക അംഗത്വവും രാജിവയ്ക്കാനുള്ള രാജിക്കത്ത് ഞാൻ എഴുതിവച്ചിരിക്കുകയാണ്," അദ്ദേഹം വ്യക്തമാക്കി.

Film actor and BJP State Vice President Devan has resigned from the party, stepping down from both his official position and primary membership.

He made the unexpected announcement during a public event at the Kanichukulangara Temple in Alappuzha. Explaining the primary reason for his resignation, Devan stated that he wishes to focus on working in alignment with the political philosophy and principles of Sree Narayana Gurudev, which he found lacking in the state unit of the BJP over the past five years.

He added that he realized his political style was no longer compatible with that of the party, and that he had made the decision to resign four to five months ago.

Devan's Statement:

"I worked very actively for the BJP and contributed significantly to the election campaigns of Rajeev Chandrasekhar in Thiruvananthapuram and Suresh Gopi. However, the politics I intend to practice is rooted in the ideals and values of Sree Narayana Gurudev. I could not find those principles in the BJP over the last five years.

I realized that this is not my path. As per my earlier decision, I have drafted my resignation letter stepping down as Vice President and from primary membership."

Political Background

Devan actively entered politics in 2004 by forming the 'Kerala People's Party' (Navakerela People's Party). He merged his party with the BJP in March 2021 in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah during the grand finale of the 'Vijay Yatra' led by then BJP State President K. Surendran. Subsequently, he served as the BJP State Vice President.

Although he hinted that certain internal disagreements and issues during the Assembly elections influenced his decision to leave, he declined to elaborate on controversial matters.

"I had taken this decision four or five months ago. However, it was only after sitting at this venue that I decided to make the announcement here. I have already drafted my resignation letter stepping down as BJP Vice President and from the primary membership," he clarified.
