Actor Devan Likely to Become TVK's Kerala President; Meeting with Vijay Soon

തിരുവനന്തപുരം: ബിജെപി സംസ്ഥാന വൈസ് പ്രസിഡന്റ് പദവിയും പ്രാഥമിക അംഗത്വവും രാജിവച്ച നടന്‍ ദേവന്‍, നടന്‍ വിജയ് നേതൃത്വം നല്‍കുന്ന തമിഴക വെട്രി കഴകം (ടിവികെ) പാര്‍ട്ടിയില്‍ ചേരുമെന്നും പാര്‍ട്ടിയുടെ കേരള സംസ്ഥാന അധ്യക്ഷനായേക്കുമെന്നും വാര്‍ത്ത.  

ടിവികെ പ്രതിനിധികള്‍ നടന്‍ ദേവന്റെ ചാലക്കുടിയിലെ വീട്ടിലെത്തി കൂടിക്കാഴ്ച നടത്തി ആദ്യഘട്ട ചര്‍ച്ചകള്‍ പൂര്‍ത്തിയാക്കി. നടി പ്രിയങ്കയ്‌ക്കൊപ്പമാണ് പാര്‍ട്ടി നേതാക്കള്‍ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ കാണാനെത്തിയത്. തുടര്‍ന്ന് ചെന്നൈയിലെ മുതിര്‍ന്ന നേതാക്കള്‍ ഗൂഗിള്‍ മീറ്റ് വഴിയും സംസാരിച്ചു.

 സെപ്റ്റംബര്‍ 10-ന് ശേഷം ദേവന്‍ ചെന്നൈയിലെത്തി വിജയിയുമായി നേരിട്ട് കൂടിക്കാഴ്ച നടത്തും. ഇതിന് ശേഷമായിരിക്കും ഔദ്യോഗിക പ്രഖ്യാപനം ഉണ്ടാകുക.  

2004-ല്‍ 'കേരള പീപ്പിള്‍സ് പാര്‍ട്ടി' രൂപീകരിച്ചാണ് ദേവന്‍ രാഷ്ട്രീയത്തിലേക്ക് വരുന്നത്. പിന്നീട് ഇത് 'നവകേരള പീപ്പിള്‍സ് പാര്‍ട്ടി' എന്ന് പുനര്‍നാമകരണം ചെയ്യുകയും 2021-ല്‍ ബിജെപിയില്‍ ലയിക്കുകയുമായിരുന്നു.  

ഓഗസ്റ്റ് 16-നാണ് അദ്ദേഹം ബിജെപിയില്‍ നിന്നുള്ള രാജി പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചത്. അതിന് പിന്നാലെയാണ് വിജയിയുടെ പാര്‍ട്ടിയിലേക്കുള്ള ചുവടുമാറ്റം സജീവമായത്. 

സുരേഷ് ഗോപി ഉള്‍പ്പെടെയുള്ള നേതാക്കളുടെ മധ്യസ്ഥ ശ്രമങ്ങള്‍ തള്ളി ദേവന്‍ ബിജെപിയില്‍ നിന്ന് രാജിവയ്ക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. രാജിക്കത്ത് ബിജെപി സംസ്ഥാന ഓഫീസിലേക്ക് അയച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. ടിവികെയില്‍ ചേരാന്‍ വേണ്ടിയല്ല രാജി പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചതെന്ന് ദേവന്‍ വ്യക്തമാക്കി.

തമിഴ്നാടിന് പുറമെ മറ്റ് ദക്ഷിണേന്ത്യന്‍ സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളിലേക്കും പാര്‍ട്ടി പ്രവര്‍ത്തനം വ്യാപിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിന്റെ ഭാഗമായാണ് കേരളത്തിലും ടിവികെ സ്വാധീനമുറപ്പിക്കാന്‍ ഒരുങ്ങുന്നത്.

Veteran film actor Devan, who recently left the BJP, is likely to become the Kerala state president of Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), the political party founded by Tamil actor Vijay.

Initial Discussions Completed: Leaders from TVK's Tamil Nadu unit visited Devan's residence in Chalakudy and held discussions lasting nearly three hours. Following this, senior leaders from Chennai also spoke with him via Google Meet.

Actress Priyanka as Mediator: The TVK leaders met Devan along with actress Priyanka, who had previously expressed her interest in joining the party.

Meeting with Vijay: Devan will travel to Chennai after September 10 to meet TVK chief Vijay in person. The final decision and official announcement will follow this meeting.

Resignation from BJP: Devan resigned from the BJP, turning down mediation attempts by leaders including Suresh Gopi. His resignation letter has been sent to the party's state office. Devan clarified that his resignation was not prompted beforehand by his entry into TVK.

South Indian Expansion: TVK is expanding into Kerala as part of its strategy to establish party units across all South Indian states.
