ന്യൂഡല്‍ഹി: ഇന്ത്യയുടെ അടുത്ത രാഷ്ട്രപതിയെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കാനുള്ള വോട്ടിംഗ് രാജ്യമാകെ പുരോഗമിക്കുന്നു.

എന്‍ഡിഎ സ്ഥാനാര്‍ത്ഥി രാംനാഥ് കോവിന്ദും യുപിഎ സ്ഥാനാര്‍ത്ഥി മീരാ കുമാറും തമ്മിലാണ് മത്സരം. കോവിന്ദ് അനായാസ ജയം നേടുമെന്നാണ് കരുതുന്നത്. ബീഹാര്‍ ഗവര്‍ണറായിരുന്നു രാംനാഥ് കോവിന്ദ്. മുന്‍ ലോക്‌സഭാ സ്പീക്കറാണ് മീരാ കുമാര്‍.

കോവിന്ദിന് 70 ശതമാനം വോട്ട് ലഭിക്കുമെന്ന് ബിജെപി നേതൃത്വം അവകാശപ്പെടുന്നു.
പാര്‍ലമെന്റിലെ രണ്ട് സഭകളിലെയും നിയമനിര്‍മ്മാണ സഭകളിലെയും അംഗങ്ങളാണ് രാഷ്ട്രപതിയെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുക.

രാവിലെ 10 മുതല്‍ 5 വരെയാണ് വോട്ടിംഗ്. ഇന്ന് വോട്ടെടുപ്പിനുശേഷം സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്നുള്ള ബാലറ്റ് ബോക്‌സുകള്‍ പാര്‍ലമെന്റിലെ റൂം 62 ലേക്ക് അയയ്ക്കും. വ്യാഴാഴ്ചയാണ് വോട്ടെണ്ണല്‍. ജൂലായ് 25 ന് പുതിയ പ്രസിഡന്റ് സത്യപ്രതിജ്ഞ ചെയ്യും.

71കാരനായ രാംനാഥ് കോവിന്ദ് അഭിഭാഷകനാണ്. ബിഹാര്‍ ഗവര്‍ണറായി പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുമ്പോഴാണ് രാഷ്ട്രപതി ഭവനിലേക്ക് എത്താന്‍ നിയോഗമുണ്ടാവുന്നത്. രാജ്യസഭാംഗമായി രണ്ടു തവണ സേവനമനുഷ്ഠിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.

Voting  to select India's next presidential candidate is in progress.

The contest is between NDA  candidate Ramnath Kovind and UPA nominee Meira Kumar. Kovind is expected to win easily. Ramnath Kovind was the Governor of Bihar. Meira Kumar is the former Lok Sabha Speaker.

The BJP leadership claims that Kovind will get 70 per cent of the votes.

Voting is open from 10 to 5 in the morning. After voting today, ballot boxes from states will be sent to Room 62 in Parliament. Counting is on Thursday. The new president will take oath on July 25.

71-year-old Ramnath Kovind is an advocate.
