കോഴിക്കോട് : പേരാമ്പ്ര സികെജി കോളേജ് യൂണിയന്‍ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട് യുഡിഎഫ്, എല്‍ഡിഎഫ് പ്രവര്‍ത്തകര്‍ നടത്തിയ റാലികള്‍ക്കിടെ പ്രവര്‍ത്തകര്‍ തമ്മിലുണ്ടായ സംഘര്‍ഷത്തിനിടെ ഷാഫി പറമ്പില്‍ എംപിക്ക് മര്‍ദ്ദനമേറ്റു.

കോളേജ് യൂണിയന്‍ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട തര്‍ക്കങ്ങളെ തുടര്‍ന്ന് ഇരുവിഭാഗവും മാര്‍ച്ച് നടത്തുന്നതിനിടെയാണ് സംഘര്‍ഷമുണ്ടായത്. പോലീസും കോണ്‍ഗ്രസ് പ്രവര്‍ത്തകരും തമ്മില്‍ ഏറ്റുമുട്ടലുണ്ടാവുകയും പോലീസ് കണ്ണീര്‍ വാതകം പ്രയോഗിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.

കണ്ണീര്‍ വാതക പ്രയോഗത്തിലാണ് എംപിക്ക് പരുക്കേറ്റത്. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് ശ്വാസതടസ്സവും മുഖത്ത് പരുക്കുമേറ്റതായി റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ടുകളുണ്ട്. പരുക്കേറ്റ ഷാഫി പറമ്പിലിനെ കോഴിക്കോട്ടെ സ്വകാര്യ ആശുപത്രിയിലേക്ക് മാറ്റി. പേരാമ്പ്രയില്‍ യുഡിഎഫ് ഹര്‍ത്താലിന് ആഹ്വാനം ചെയ്തു.

The MP sustained injuries in the tear gas attack. Reports indicate he suffered difficulty breathing and injuries to his face. Shafi Parambil, who was injured, has been shifted to a private hospital in Kozhikode. The UDF has called for a hartal (strike) in Perambra.
