കോഴിക്കോട്: കോഴിക്കോട് മലബാര്‍ ഹോസ്പിറ്റല്‍ ആന്‍ഡ് ന്യൂറോളജി സെന്റര്‍ ചെയര്‍പേഴ്സണ്‍ ഡോ. പി എ ലളിത അന്തരിച്ചു. 68 വയസ്സായിരുന്നു.
കാന്‍സര്‍ ബാധിതയായി മലബാര്‍ ആശുപത്രിയില്‍ ഗുരുതരാവസ്ഥയില്‍ ചികിത്സയിലായിരുന്നു. ഞായറാഴ്ച വൈകിട്ടായിരുന്നു അന്ത്യം.
കാന്‍സര്‍ ബോധവത്കണ രംഗത്ത് സജീവമായിരുന്നു. ഇന്ത്യന്‍ മെഡിക്കല്‍ അസോസിയേഷന്‍ കേരള ഘടകത്തിന്റെ വനിതാ വിഭാഗം ആദ്യ ചെയര്‍പേഴ്സണായിരുന്നു. മലബാര്‍ ആശുപത്രി സ്ഥാപിച്ച ഡോ. ലളിത, ദീര്‍ഘകാലം ആശുപത്രിയുടെ മാനേജിങ് ഡയറക്ടറായി പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചു.
കാന്‍സര്‍ ബാധിച്ച് ആദ്യഘട്ടത്തില്‍ രോഗവിമുക്തി നേടിയിരുന്നു. തുടര്‍ന്ന് കാന്‍സര്‍ ഫ്രീ കാലിക്കറ്റ് എന്ന സംഘടന രൂപീകരിച്ച് ബോധവത്കരണം നടത്തി.
വീണ്ടും രോഗം തീവ്രമായതോടെ മൂന്ന് മാസം മുമ്പാണ് പൊതു രംഗത്തുനിന്നു മാറിനിന്നത്. മനസ്സിലെ കൈയൊപ്പ്, മരുന്നുകള്‍ക്കപ്പുറം, മുഖങ്ങള്‍ അഭിമുഖങ്ങള്‍, കൗമാരം അറിയേണ്ടതെല്ലാം, പറയാനുണ്ടേറെ എന്നീ പുസ്തകങ്ങള്‍ രചിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.
സ്വകാര്യ മേഖലയിലെ മികച്ച ഡോക്ടര്‍ക്കുള്ള സംസ്ഥാന സര്‍ക്കാരിന്റെ പ്രത്യേക പുരസ്‌കാരം, ഡോ. പല്‍പ്പു മെമ്മോറിയല്‍ അവാര്‍ഡ്, ഐഎംഎ മികച്ച ഡോക്ടര്‍, വനിതാ രത്നം അവാര്‍ഡ് തുടങ്ങി നിരവധി പുരസ്‌കാരങ്ങള്‍ ലഭിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.
മലയാളത്തിലെ ആദ്യന്യൂസ് ചാനലായിരുന്ന ഇന്ത്യാവിഷന്‍ ഡയറക്ടര്‍ ബോര്‍ഡംഗം, ഐഎംഎ ദേശീയ സ്റ്റാന്‍ഡിങ് കമ്മിറ്റി അംഗം, മര്‍ക്കന്റയില്‍ ബാങ്ക് മുന്‍ ഡയറക്ടര്‍, എസ്സിഎആര്‍എഫ് കാന്‍സര്‍ കെയര്‍ സൊസൈറ്റി ഫോര്‍ ചില്‍ഡ്രന്‍ അദ്ധ്യക്ഷ തുടങ്ങി നിരവധി പദവികള്‍ വഹിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.
സംസ്‌കാരം തിങ്കളാഴ്ച വൈകിട്ട് നാലു മണിക്ക് മാവൂര്‍ റോഡ് സ്മശാനത്തില്‍ നടക്കുമെന്നു ബന്ധുക്കള്‍ അറിയിച്ചു.

She was active in the field of cancer awareness and was the first chairperson of the women's wing of the Kerala Medical Association of India. Dr. Lalitha served as the managing director of the hospital for a long time.
Dr. Lalitha formed an organization called Cancer Free Calicut. She withdrew from the public life three months ago when the disease recurred. She has authored many books.
She has received many awards including the State Government Special Award for Best Doctors in Private Sector, Dr. Palpu Memorial Award, IMA Best Doctor and the Vanitha Ratnam Award.
Dr. Lalitha was a member of the Board of Directors of India Vision news channel, former Director of Mercantile Bank and Chairman of the SCARF Cancer Care Society for Children.
Relatives said that the funeral will be held at the Mavoor Road Cemetery at 4 pm on Monday.
