ന്യൂഡല്‍ഹി: ഇന്ത്യന്‍ ക്രിക്കറ്റ് ടീമിന്റെ പരിശീലകനായി മുന്‍ ഓള്‍ റൗണ്ടറും ക്യാപ്റ്റനുമായ രവി ശാസ്ത്രിയെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു.

2019 ഐസിസി ലോകകപ്പ് പൂര്‍ത്തിയാകുന്നതുവരെയാണ് നിയമനം. മുന്‍ ഇന്ത്യന്‍ ഓപ്പണര്‍ വീരേന്ദര്‍ സേവാഗ്, സണ്‍റൈസേഴ്‌സ് ഹൈദരാബാദ് കോച്ച് ടോം മൂഡിതുടങ്ങിയവരൊക്കെ മത്സരിക്കാനുണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

അനില്‍ കുംബ്‌ളെ മാറിയ സ്ഥാനത്താണ് രവി ശാസ്ത്രി എത്തുന്നത്. ചാമ്പ്യന്‍സ് ട്രോഫി ഫൈനലില്‍ ഇന്ത്യയെ പാകിസഥാന്‍ തോല്‍പ്പിച്ച് രണ്ട് ദിവസങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ശേഷമാണ് കുംബ്ലെ രാജിവച്ചത്.

ബിസിസിഐ ആസ്ഥാനത്ത് നടന്ന അഭിമുഖത്തിനു ശേഷമാണ് ശാസ്ത്രിയെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കാന്‍ തീരുമാനിച്ചത്. ലണ്ടനിലുള്ള ശാസ്ത്രി സ്‌കൈപ്പിലൂടെയാണ് അഭിമുഖത്തില്‍ പങ്കെടുത്തത്. സച്ചന്‍ ടെന്‍ഡുല്‍ക്കര്‍, സൗരവ് ഗാംഗുലി, വി.വി.എസ് ലക്ഷ്മണ്‍ എന്നിവരടങ്ങിയ ഉപദേശക സമിതിയാണ് അഭിമുഖം നടത്തിയത്.


Former all-rounder and captain Ravi Shastri has been named as the new coach of the Indian cricket team.

The appointment is made until 2019 ICC World Cup. Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag and Sunrisers Hyderabad coach Tom Moody had to compete.
Ravi Shastri is the replacement for Anil Kumble.

The decision to choose Shastri was after the interview in the BCCI headquarters. He was interviewed by Skype from London. An advisory panel comprising Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman  interviewed Shastri.
